Pumpkin, Small Sugar – (25 Seeds) Heirloom,New England Pie, Sugar Pumpkin

100 Days. Averaging about 6-7 lbs. each, Small Sugar is one of the standard smaller pumpkins. Growers note good yields of bright orange, flattened pumpkins with high quality flesh. Fruits store well and are great for roadside sales, home garden, pies, and canning.

Supplied as untreated seed.

Tender Annual Heirloom. A standard since the 1800s, Small Sugar is the classic pumpkin for pies and canning. The dark orange, deeply ribbed rind has fine-grained, stringless, sweet, thick, yellow flesh. Fruit grows 6″-9″ in diameter, weighing 5-8 pounds each.

Soil & Water: Pumpkins prefer loam or sandy soil high in organic matter to hold large amounts of moisture. The plants require heavy and even water for best development. Preferred soil pH is between 6.0-7.0.

Planting & Growing: Start seeds indoors 3-4 weeks before the last frost or sow seed directly when soil temperature reaches 70F. To begin growing earlier, use mulching plastics and row covers to warm the soil.

Harvesting & Storage: For immediate use, harvest when the skin loses its sheen. For storage, harvest pumpkins when fully mature. Cut the fruit from the vine, leaving 4″-6″ of stem. Cure for storage by setting in a warm, dry location for 1-2 weeks.

Did You Know? Pumpkins are an excellent source of vitamin A.

Variegated AD17 x Ed Rosenthal Sativa SWAG (Ed Skinny)

Variety Description: Apricot Pie Mutant Mix is a cross between a variegated AD17 and an ED Rosenthal Sativa SWAG. AD17 (Apricot Delia 17) originally was selected for itÅ› single leaflet trait out of a Purple Afghan SWAG (Skinny Purple) population and is a legendary strain from our Breeder Dr Kaly. Skinny describes the leaf form which was rather slim and super skinny towards the edges. Ed Rosenthal Sativa SWAG (Ed Skinny), is a cross of our Purple Afghan SWAG with our ED Rosenthal, which has been selected only over 2 generations for the SWAG Leaf morphology, thus not being entirely stabilised. Both parents have been selected for Sativa traits, such as larger plants and massive colas, whilst carrying early flowering traits, usually found in Indica plants. The buds were fist-thick and forearm long and carried an intoxicating aroma, whilst featuring a bit more airy bud structure typical for Sativa plants.

By crossing the variegated AD17 to the ED Rosenthal Sativa SWAG (Ed Skinny), both of them emerged from our Purple Afghan SWAG (Skinny Purple). Expect a huge range of phenotypes.

Morphology: Apricot Pie Mutant Mix will have some Indica leaning phenotypes, as they have been more dominant in previous breeding projects. They stay on the smaller side, with solid buds, like in our Purple Afghan SWAG (Skinny Purple). The other Phenotypes are the Sativa-leaning once, in some cases this will also mean that a longer flowering period will be required 10-11 weeks. Yet, you will most likely see a great variety of unique flower types, like in many of our SWAG lines. Between the end of September and the end of October is the expected Harvest time based on the lineage, with some outliers being ready in mid-end November.

Aromas & Flavours: Afghan, Earthy, Sweet, Fruits. Most Phenotypes will have a medium to strong aroma. Some also will be very mild, which is more ideal for stealth growing.

Effects: Most flowers we tried had Indica leaning Hybrid effect. Some of the Sativa leaning phenotypes, were very mild and relaxing in effect, not too psychoactive.

Development: Apricot Pie Mutant Mix is rather easy to cultivate outdoors. It is not very picky about nutrients, only making sure to provide enough Calcium, Magnesium and other minerals found in mostly Miocene, calcareous and light soils, High in Lime, Clay, Sand and Silt.
