Ectoplasm seeds

How to get bottled ectoplasm in Spiritfarer

An adventure built around exploration and experimentation, Spiritfarer has a lot to offer. There are many mysteries to uncover and items to build. The game also features a robust cooking and trading system for unlocking hidden stuff. There are many recipes in Spiritfarer. Some of them use some quite difficult to obtain ingredients.

One of the more rare ingredients for certain items is the bottled ectoplasm in Spiritfarer. This item is a special one. Bottled Ectoplasm is gathered from the event triggered from Stanley’s pet beetle, Jacob. During the event, Dust Shades will hop quickly around the ship and the player must catch them with their tools. Capturing enough Shades will give you some ectoplasm.

The first batch is unlocked by completing a certain questline. You need to be able to unlock the full Stanley questline, which means you’re going fishing. You need to be able to complete a certain amount of fishing before you can speak to Stanley. This process involves collecting Seeds from Francis, the Mysterious Trader. You must then return to Stanley and hand over the seeds. You then need to work through the Stanley events.

To actually get the fishing to spawn the Mysterious Seed, you need to have already completed escorting four spirits to the Everdoor.

Not everything will unlock in Spiritfarer immediately, not unless you talk to the correct people. That’s the case for anyone looking to obtain the bottled ectoplasm. You can add it to your collection of things to find by speaking to Stanley. You won’t be able to talk to Stanley until you do quite a bit of fishing, or luck is on your side and Francis arrives with a particular item available for you to purchase.

Fishing will be how you acquire the mysterious seeds that are capable of turning into Stanley. Some players have said there are seeds that Francis, the Mysterious Trader, can sell you, and have reported it works to conjure Stanley. Multiple players have said it works, so it must work both ways. Fishing is probably the most difficult part, so hopefully, Francis brings those seeds to your boat. Regardless of how you receive the mysterious seeds, take them down to your garden and grow into Stanley.

After that, you need to follow Stanley’s questline to obtain the ectoplasm. By following Stanley’s quest, you will eventually receive ectoplasm as a reward for your hard work. You’ll be able to collect it moving forward. Acquiring the mysterious seeds is the toughest part, though. Working with Stanley is pretty easy once he’s on your boat.

Ectoplasm is a Hardmode post-Plantera crafting material dropped from Dungeon Spirits in the Dungeon. Dungeon Spirits drop 1–2 Ectoplasm upon death. It is used by Old-gen console and 3DS players to directly craft the Spectre armor and tools. On the Desktop version, Console version, Mobile version, Nintendo Switch version, and tModLoader version, players use Ectoplasm to craft Spectre Bars, which in turn are used to craft Spectre armor and tools.

On the Old-gen console version and Nintendo 3DS version, the player needs to acquire 136 Ectoplasm and 126 Chlorophyte Bars to craft all Spectre equipment including the tools, wings, armor and both forms of headgear. For just all the components of the Spectre armor set (including both forms of headgear), the player will need 66 Ectoplasm.
