10 Best Cannabis Seed Banks To Buy Cannabis Seeds Online in 2022 (Ships to US)

Cannabis has never been more popular in the United States, with an overwhelming number of Americans expressing support for legalization, according to the Pew Research Center. With some 37 states having legalized cannabis for medical use, and sixteen for recreational purposes, more Americans than ever are considering growing their own cannabis.

Buoying this surge further is the 2018 Farm Bill, which helped dramatically boost both cannabis and hemp production in the U.S. Now, demand is higher than ever among Americans looking to grow their own. So, where are they turning? Most likely, to the hundreds if not thousands of cannabis seed banks found online, just a Google search away.

Seed banks, for the uninitiated, are repositories that store seeds to maintain and propagate genetic diversity. Cannabis seed banks online thus provide would-be growers with the seeds they need to get started growing cannabis. The problem, however, is that not all of these are reputable, and there is a wide range in overall quality among these vendors. So many options might leave beginning growers understandably scratching their heads.

Well, that’s where we come in! Today, we’re looking at ten of the very best seed banks from which U.S. citizens—at least in states that have legalized growing your own—can order seeds and start producing their very own cannabis.

Top 10 Cannabis Seed Banks To Buy Seeds Online

3. MSNL Seedbank Best delivery
4. Seedsman Best seed variety
5. Quebec Cannabis Seeds Best for promotional offers
6. Herbies Best for convenience
7. Ministry of Cannabis Best for dependability

9. Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds Best for guaranteed delivery
10. Weed Seed Express Best “new kid on the block”

Ranking Criteria

To some extent, your choice of cannabis seed bank will depend on whether they have the strains that you want to grow. We obviously could not consider that in our rankings, as it varies from person to person. Instead, we focused on the following equally important factors.

Quality of Seeds

Perhaps the most important consideration in our rankings is the quality of the seeds. You need high-quality seeds if you want to maximize your chances of successful germination. High-quality seeds also optimize the quality of your plants, including the buds.

Satisfaction Guarantees

For a seed bank to be considered one of the top options, it needs to have a satisfaction guarantee. Even seed banks with a high quality of seeds will occasionally have lower-quality seeds. The best ones acknowledge that this can happen and take steps to remedy any issues customers have. Of course, a satisfaction guarantee also shows that the seed bank in question has a high level of trust in its products.

Discreet Shipping

Even if cannabis is legal in your state, it may not be in the states your package passes through. And there are still some negative connotations and stigma associated with cannabis. Because of this, we prioritize seed banks that use discreet packaging. Many of the best seed banks not only use discreet packaging but also purposely package it to look like something else, like a DVD case or toy.

Why Trust Us

You should feel comfortable taking our advice when it comes to cannabis seed banks. We’ve helped cannabis growers find reputable seed banks online for years. Over this time, we have reviewed most of the largest and most popular stores, along with many of the smaller ones. We have taken the time to thoroughly compare and contrast each based on the above ranking criteria.

Simply put, our rankings are the result of years of knowledge, experience, and research, along with a careful point-by-point comparison.

There’s a reason that ILGM takes the top spot in not only our review but many others. In addition to fantastic customer service and a wide variety of seeds to choose from, they also provide tons of sales and discounts while educating customers through an extensive library of growing resources.

As far as their seeds, the quality is excellent and, importantly, backed by a germination guarantee. They have a variety of classic cannabis strains as well as some you may have never heard of before. As far as safety, ILGM has an extremely solid reputation and their customer service easily competes with the best out there. In fact, on TrustPilot they have more than 4,000 user reviews with an average rating of 4.8/5.

Considering how reputable ILGM is, coupled with an extensive collection of top-quality seeds, it was not at all difficult to select them for the top spot on our list. The only real downside—and it’s a minor one—with ILGM is that it will cost a pretty penny if you want tracked shipping, as it costs $25 (compared to their standard shipping, which is free).

  • Monthly deals and promos
  • Extremely reputable and highly rated
  • Germination guarantee (money back)
  • Discreet packaging
  • Free standard shipping
  • Features all the best-known strains
  • Growing resources and 24/7 support
  • Delivery with tracking will set you back $25

2.) Crop King Seeds — Best for International Customers

Crop King Seeds gets points for its easy-to-use site—some of its competitors still feature clunky sites, which can be unappealing to the modern cannabis grower, skewing younger every year. Crop King Seeds also wins points for being a beginner-friendly site, with germination guides to help you grow (literally!).

With a massive variety of strains, Crop King has received thousands of positive reviews for its seeds, and its reviews are regulated, helping keep out biased or paid reviewers and showing you who are regular customers. Their reviews frequently indicate high germination rates, from 80 to even 100 percent.

To help narrow your choices, use the site’s filters to find what’s best for you. Crop King is also reasonable in terms of shipping, with $10 and $30 for regular and express, respectively, plus free shipping on orders over $300.

  • Germination rate of 80 percent or more
  • Special review system
  • Germination guides
  • Helpful infographics
  • Free shipping for larger ($300+) orders
  • Global shipping
  • No free shipping
  • One- to two-week shipping time is among the slowest
  • Targeted to beginners, which might turn off more experienced growers

3.) MSNL Seedbank — Best For Quickest Delivery

MSNL has been in the game for a long time and is definitely among the most reliable seed banks out there. It also offers one of the fastest processing and shipping times, so if you need seeds right away, MSNL should be at the top of your list.

This reputable seed bank also runs frequent promos, enabling you to save some money (especially over the long haul). Although they have a great range of male and female seeds to order from, MSNL does lose some points due to its lack of a germination guarantee.

One thing that does keep it toward the top of our list is its lightning fast and discreet shipping, which has helped make it one of the most popular seed banks online. Another nice feather in MSNL’s cap is the fact that their seeds have won High Times and Cannabis Cups.

  • Fast and discreet shipping
  • Lot of promos/freebies
  • Solid strain variety
  • Subpar customer support
  • No germination guarantees

4.) Seedsman — Best for Selection

Seedsman—true to its name—offers an amazing variety of seeds, many of which are top quality. Whether you’re after feminized seeds, auto-flowering seeds, or rare seed strains, Seedsman will almost certainly have you covered. OG Kush, White Widow, Purple Haze, Girl Scout Cookies—they’ve got all your favorites.

Another nice aspect of Seedsman is they tend to give out a lot of free seeds when buying in bulk. So if that’s you, you’ll reap some additional seeds by going through Seedsman. They also offer worldwide shipping, which makes them a solid option if you’re outside of the U.S.

Although Seedsman is one of our top picks overall, thanks in particular to its extensive seed variety, it does lose some points due to its questionable customer service and somewhat clunky website.

  • Worldwide shipping
  • Massive seed variety
  • Free seeds with bulk purchases
  • Subpar customer support

Quebec Cannabis Seeds is a great seed bank overall, but particularly if you live in the U.S., as its proximity makes for quick deliveries compared to some other seed banks.

Although Quebec Cannabis Seeds lacks the variety of many of the other seed banks on this list, it helps make up for it in a variety of ways—namely, fast delivery, awesome discounts, and high-quality seeds. They’re an especially good choice if you’re on a budget, as their weekly discounts offer big savings—sometimes up to 50 percent, although often in the still-great 10-25 percent range.

A few other things about this French-Canadian seed bank: It carries a germination guarantee but also has a no-return policy, which seem to kind of cancel each other out, and it also allows for payment in USD—so no need to do any conversions, but be mindful of their 3.8 percent credit card fee.

  • Germination guarantees
  • Weekly discounts
  • Fast deliveries to the U.S.
  • No return policy

6.) Herbies — Best for Convenience

Herbies also makes our list in large part thanks to its site’s convenient layout. It’s really easy to navigate and figuring out what’s discounted and what’s highly rated is a breeze, thanks to their intuitive, color-coded system.

In addition, Herbies also shares many similarities with the other seed banks listed here in that it has a wide range of top-quality seeds. They also have reliably quick processing and shipping, which can be really important when you’re trying to get a grow operation underway quickly.

Thanks to how easy the Herbies site is to navigate, as well as its solid value in terms of variety, quality, and shipping, it easily makes our list of the best overall online seed banks. Unfortunately, like a fair number of seed banks online, its customer support is sorely lacking.

  • Easy-to-navigate website
  • Reliable and fast shipping
  • Top-quality seeds
  • Weak customer support

7.) Ministry of Cannabis — Best for Reliability

Ministry of Cannabis is super reliable, which has helped it gain a lot of happy customers, even though it lacks the number of promos offered by many other seed banks. This seed bank tends to attract serious customers because they have a unique feature: rotating seed stocks.

This attention to the freshness of their seed supply helps make Ministry of Cannabis one of the most reliable seed banks out there. After all, the last thing anyone wants is to get bunk seeds. Another feature that helps them win “best dependability” is their above-average customer support.

Overall, Ministry of Cannabis is a solid choice, even if we’d appreciate seeing more promos offered like many of its competitors. Their fresh supply of seeds is probably why they feel as if they can get away with not having a germination guarantee like many other seed banks.

  • Solid variety
  • Fresh seed supply
  • Reliable customer support
  • No germination guarantees
  • Few promos

8.) Seed Supreme — Best for Digital Currencies

Seed Supreme is our “best for crypto” pick because not only do they accept cryptocurrency, like many of the other seed banks featured here, but they even have special discounts for Bitcoin. This makes it an appealing choice in particular for Bitcoin holders, as they can save quite a good bit of money.

In terms of the other usual suspects, Seed Supreme does well. They have a good strain variety and, although their customer support is subpar, they do offer loyalty rewards that pay off over time. You might be better off with a different option if you don’t care about paying in crypto (and specifically Bitcoin).

  • Discounts (up to 30 percent!) for paying in Bitcoin
  • Above-average strain variety
  • Loyalty rewards program
  • Lacking in customer service

9.) Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds — Best for Prompt Delivery

Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds insists on having top-notch quality. Although it may lack some of the seed variety of its competitors, you’re guaranteed to receive seeds of the highest quality, making it one of the more reliable suppliers for serious growers.

Another aspect that helps it win “best guaranteed delivery” is the fact that customers have claimed that their orders were guaranteed, even in the event that customs confiscated their packages. This helps make up for the fact that Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds has one of the slowest shipping speeds on this list. This stings a little less though if you’re on a tight budget, as shipping is free.

  • Free shipping
  • Highest quality seeds
  • Guaranteed orders
  • Slow shipping speeds

Every industry has its up and comers and, over time, some of them even manage to supplant the oldest, most well-established companies. Weed Seeds Express might just accomplish this tough feat.

Why? Because they are proving themselves to be one of the most reliable seed banks online, with fast, discreet shipping and a huge variety of high-quality seeds. They also ship worldwide and boast a lot of promos.

The only thing holding back Weed Seeds from claiming one of our top spots is the fact that it’s simply really new to the industry. As long as it continues to do what it’s doing, it will no doubt establish a great reputation and continue to grow (yes, pun intended).

  • Frequent promos
  • Stealthy worldwide shipping
  • Top-quality seeds
  • New on the block

Cannabis Seed Bank FAQ

Q: Is it illegal to buy cannabis seeds in the U.S.?

A: Yes and no. That just depends on where you are! Since each state has their own specific laws, and cannabis has not yet been fully decriminalized/legalized on a federal level (although it’s looking more likely than ever), it depends on your specific state. That said, seed banks usually use an antiquated law to help surmount legal hurdles and conduct their business. This works, in essence, by framing the seeds as either a souvenir or fish bait/bird food. You can see disclaimers about this on their websites.

Q: Which seed banks have the best genetics?

A: The award here goes to the seed banks that have built a great reputation for delivering high-quality seeds: Seedsman, Crop King Seeds, and Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds. These banks, it would seem, test their seeds to ensure that the strains are of the highest quality. Stick to these three if acquiring top-quality seeds is your main preference.

Q: Does it matter how I pay for my seeds?

A: Once again, it depends. Many seed banks actually offer discounts for crypto payments because of the discreet, decentralized nature of how cryptocurrency transactions function. While most accept credit cards, which does offer you some protection through your credit card company, many have a strong preference for cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Two that offer discounts for Bitcoin payments are Seed Supreme and I Love Growing Marijuana. With these two, it can definitely add up to solid savings—assuming that Bitcoin doesn’t eventually skyrocket in price one day (clearly this is another factor in the acceptance of Bitcoin by many seed banks).

Q: What’s “stealth shipping” and why should I care?

A: The last thing anyone wants is to have issues with their order in terms of customs/government involvement. As such, it’s nice to order from a seed bank that guarantees discreet shipping. A common method is to include other, inexpensive items with the seeds, such as DVD cases. This helps the package seem less suspicious. Another way to keep a low profile is to resist the urge for expedited delivery or a delivery option that requires your signature.

Q: Which seed banks offer worldwide shipping?

A: Weed Seeds Express, Seedsman, and Crop King Seeds. These will need to be your first choices if you live outside of the U.S.

Tips for Using a Cannabis Seed Bank

Here are a few tips to help you get the most out of your seed bank shopping experience:

  • Browse a number of different sites so that you can take advantage of any special promos that might be going on.
  • Check to make sure that the site has the payment option that you prefer to use (particularly if you are looking to pay via cryptocurrency).
  • Make sure that they ship to your country/state.
  • Check for a “germination guarantee” and, if they don’t have one, investigate their return policies and customer support. You want to make sure that you protect yourself the best you can.
Wrapping Up

We’ve put together this list carefully to ensure that you go about your cannabis seed shopping in a safe way and don’t get ripped off. So, any one of these should do the trick just fine. Ultimately, what it comes down to is your specific preferences—for example, shipping time, location, payment method, reliability, seed variety, etc. Factor these in so that you make the choice that’s best for you.

That said, you can’t really go wrong with one of the most well-established seed banks such as I Love Growing Marijuana or MSNL Seedbank.

4. Seedsman – Most Effective

Brand Overview

Seedsman is a legitimate online seed bank that’s been in operation since 2003. From the day it came into existence, it’s developed ties with numerous breeders and amassed loyal consumers. Additionally, Seedsman donates a portion of its revenues to campaigns to authorize marijuana globally.

Seedsman is a third-party seller of seeds. While the company does not cultivate cannabis seeds, this does not preclude them from selecting only the highest-quality goods for the company. This distinction in procurement and sales methods is what genuinely differentiates them from the majority of the competition.

The brand has a massive stock of over 1,500 unique strains. While some of these strains were developed by Seedsman, the majority come from over 65 other seed banks. Seedsman is among the few large seed banks that offer single seed purchases. Generally, Seedsman seeds come healthy and pristine, and they produce attractive plants.

More than 3,000 specialized cannabis seeds are available at Seedsman. This is a substantial increase over the average for the industry. The company gathers seeds from 65 diverse sperm banks throughout the world, allowing you to sample the wide range and quality offered by diverse manufacturers. As a result, they charge a slightly higher price.

Customers appear to be quite pleased with the addition of seeds to their product order. Moreover, the brand’s healthy and rapid plant development has resulted in excellent evaluations.

However, Seedsman’s customer service technique may be improved. Numerous customers have expressed irritation with lengthy wait times for email responses and a lack of coordination in the case that seeds are unavailable.

Final Verdict

At the end of the day, Seedsman has a lot of positive marks. Their inventory is extensive, their website is user-friendly, and they offer a range of price points.

However, the shipment and handling skills of this business should be significantly upgraded, and the accuracy of customer support responses should be enhanced.

While we admire Seedsman, we do not believe they’re currently one of the top seed banks. We advise you to choose I Love Growing Marijuana or Marijuana Seeds NL seeds instead.

Things to Keep in Mind While Choosing Cannabis Seed Banks for Yourself

There are numerous seed banks on the market, each offering various options, making it challenging to determine which brand is the best among them.

It is normal to consider the dangers associated with obtaining cannabis seeds online and having them delivered via mail. In the U.S. and throughout the world, laws vary by state. To be on the safer side, always confirm the state/country’s regulations regarding sensitive products before placing your deal.

You now have the information about the best brands on the market to make a purchase for yourself. But, before beginning, ensure you check a few of the boxes listed below.

• Look Out for the Legalities

Although cannabis is allowed in several areas of the United States, the issue is not with use but with germination. Always verify your area permits cannabis cultivation to avoid exceeding rules.

The understanding of legal provisions governing the selling and cultivation of seeds of cannabis has evolved throughout time. So, make sure to review your state’s policies before taking any steps.

• Wisely Choose a Seed Bank

Protect your investment appropriately by selecting a seed bank that is trustworthy and responsible. Middling sources shall not be held liable if your order is misplaced in the process. Informal research can be conducted by going through online reviews and examining company rules and terms & conditions.

Confirm if the brand provides delivery assurances and compensates for lost or stolen packages during delivery. Select a seed bank that is trustworthy, dependable, and well-established in the sector to lessen your risk.

• Ensured Germination

A frequent issue with nearly all seed banks is they cannot guarantee germination. This is a critical step and is essential to why you are buying marijuana seeds online. If germination flops, everything else will fail.

Businesses frequently provide complementary seeds in the situation of failure germination, compensating for the missed opportunity. Additionally, this compensation enables you to trade in your expenditure, which is not feasible otherwise with a corporation that makes no such assurances.

• Excellent Customer Service

Certainly, a good business is concerned with its clients and their demands. Customer service excellence results in a positive user experience. As with the last suggestion, conducting research on seed banks before buying a product will save you time and the aggravation of being duped by a company that falls short of its claims.

• Covert Shipping

Hidden shipment is a service that shipping firms provide to their clients. That means regardless of anything happening to your goods before it is delivered to you, the company is fully responsible for sending/re-delivering the shipment. Generally, covert shipping is free.

This warranty applies to circumstances beyond your mechanism, such as seeds being confiscated at airport customs or the box being lost. You will be apprehended if you provide a wrong delivery address or other similar concerns.

• Avoid Making Bulk Orders Immediately

Regardless of the actual scale of your requirement, it is prudent to test the goods before making a large purchase. Conduct a thorough study of user experience and reviews to ensure you are getting the most value for your money. Once you are entirely happy, you may always return and make a large order.

• Terms and Conditions of the Company

Each company’s website includes a Terms & Conditions section covering all of the technical details you should be aware of when deciding to make a purchase. Occasionally, failing to comprehend the company’s policies results in losing currency and goods, as your worries become irrelevant.

• Payment Options

Seed banks usually offer many payment alternatives. Among banks, the famous distributing mechanism is debit cards. Banks generally accept cryptocurrency due to its efficiency as well. You can also use PayPal because of its safe payments. PayPal’s primary drawback is it can restrict or prohibit your bank account from contentious merchandise.

FAQs Regarding Marijuana Seed Banks

Q. Is It Illegal to Purchase Marijuana Seeds in the United States?

The answer is tricky here since the United States of America is a federal republic. As a result, something that is unlawful on the federal level may be legal on the state level, as is the case with marijuana.

Marijuana is classified as a Schedule I substance by the federal government, making it unlawful and dangerous to possess. However, you may be able to walk away with purchasing marijuana, mainly if you live in a state that permits marijuana cultivation for recreational and medical use.

Q. Does Any Seed Bank Ship Seeds to the United States?

Every area in the United States of America owns its laws governing the cultivation and usage of cannabis. As long as the cannabis seeds do not germinate, they can be shipped as fish bait and bird food. Each company, including MSNL, includes information about technical details in their terms and conditions section.

Q. Is Buying Cannabis Seeds Online a Safe Choice?

Specialists do not approve of using a signature-required delivery method. This tip avoids bringing consideration to the package. Additionally, customers should select a payment option that will keep them free of any possible complications.

Bitcoin is the most preferred payment choice due to its intractability and encryption. Customers may, however, choose alternative payment methods such as visa cards, which are similarly safe and guaranteed.

Q. Who Are the Authorized Seed Banks?

The majority of seed banks feature online portals and web blogs, a place where customers can discuss their opinions with the business. Quick research is going to assist you in getting a lot of stuff out before you shop. As a newbie, most manufacturers also provide special value packages and recommendations on their web pages.

Conclusion – Which Cannabis Seed Bank Should You Buy From?

Every online seed bank on this list is a respected seed bank that ships to the USA. As such, you may expect high-quality seeds from all of them. Some of them indeed stand out with particular abilities; therefore, it is your choice to decide which aspects to focus on.

Pros

  • Toll-free telephone support, 24/7
  • Established 2005

Crop King Seeds is well connected, with over 100 retail partners and a wide range of seeds, with better quality genetics and breeding selection.

They are a trusted brand with 200 stores in Canada as well as an online store that ships worldwide. Their value packs, like Mix Pack Feminized and Autoflower Feminized are ideal for new growers.

The company has a reputation for selling the highest quality male and female seeds, and for making innovative discoveries in breeding seeds organically.

They also accept Bitcoin for stealthy payments.

3. Seedsman – Best Variety of Cannabis Seeds

  • Location: Barcelona, Spain
  • Ships to: U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, Europe, New Zealand
  • Shipping time to the USA: Within 3 days of receiving tracking number

Pros

  • Established 2003
  • 1500 types of seed strains
  • Works with 63 different seed banks
  • Many free seed promotions throughout the year

Cons

  • Refund requires a somewhat complicated process

Seedsman offers plenty of discounts, averaging about 25 percent off of orders and approximately 40 promotions a year.

In addition to maintaining good word-of-mouth and social media reviews, the company also has a loyalty program for returning customers. Bitcoin buyers save money too, which is cool.

Still, with over 1,500 cannabis seed strains, variety is the company’s strong suit.

The company does hassle you for a refund, but it’s understandable that they have to protect against unscrupulous “samplers” with no intent to pay for quality marijuana seeds.

4. Herbie’s Seeds – Top Seed Bank That Ships To Any Country

  • Location: San Vicente, Alicante, Spain
  • Ships to: Any country worldwide

Cons

  • Very new company
  • Free shipping deals don’t apply to U.S. buyers

Herbie’s Seeds offers good deals on selected strains, multiple forms of payment (including Bitcoin and wire transfer), and best of all, offers free Gorilla Glue Auto seeds with every purchase.

The shipping time to the US could definitely be better, but if you’re looking to support a new Spanish cannabis seed bank that’s making a name for itself in the scene, you should definitely give Herbie’s Seeds a try.

5. MJSeeds – Best Weed Seeds Stealth Shipping

  • Established 2009
  • Accepts multiple payment options, even cash & money order

Cons

  • Shipping is somewhat pricey

You could send Bitcoin, Paypal funds, or even a money order through the mail and get your seed within a couple of weeks. Shipping is same-day and faster-than-average, with a dedicated customer support line.

The company has a rotating stealth system, using different “disguises” for seeds, ensuring that your packs are rarely ever confiscated. How exciting!

6. Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds – Best Online Seed Banks Reputation

  • Free US stealth shipping
  • Established 1996
  • Free seeds with every order
  • Multiple forms of payment, including cryptocurrency & wire transfer

Cons

  • Longer than average wait time

Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds is one of the oldest companies and one of the first seed banks to gain popularity online. AMS is also one of the most generous companies, giving away free seeds with every order, or 3-10 extra seeds depending on how much you spend.

The company has also started shipping to Australia again, after a brief hiatus.

Try Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds for the free gifts and keep coming back for its reputable seed bank brand, and from the city that started the whole craze. As a wise stoner in a pulpy black suit once said, “You’ll dig it the most.”

7. Rocket Seeds – Fastest Delivery for Cannabis Seed Banks

  • Location: The Bronx, NY, USA
  • Ships to: Worldwide
  • Shipping time to the USA: 5-7 business days

Pros

  • Guaranteed delivery with Registered Tracking
  • Germination guarantee
  • Works with other seed banks to find rare items
  • The fastest shipping

Cons

  • Not a strong brand or unique savings

Rocket Seeds is a great place to find hard-to-find seeds, since the company works with multiple sources all over the world, including other seed banks. In fact, they often crossover with competitors like Crop King Seeds, Mary Jane’s Garden, and Sunwest Genetics.

The handshake agreement also means their prices are comparable to those companies and they won’t offer much in the way of unique discounts. Still, if you want a company based in the United States, and one that’s attentive to your unique requests, you can’t do better or do it faster.

They call it Rocket Seeds for a reason – they have fast US shipping.

8. Beaver Seeds – Best Seeds Bank Customer Support

  • Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  • Ships to: Worldwide
  • Shipping time to the USA: 7-25 days

Pros

  • Free shipping
  • Founded 2009
  • Guaranteed delivery
  • Accepts multiple forms of payment (inc. Bitcoin & cash)

Cons

  • Not too many discounts

Beaver Seeds is a flexible seed bank all around, from their methods of payments, to free shipping, and guaranteed delivery, with paid tracking. The germination rate is guaranteed and all shipping is discreet.

Shipping time is 7-25 days which means it could be there quickly – as the company implies their delivery time is better than average, or there could be instances where the package is late.

Overall, what we liked about Beaver Seeds was the customer service telephone line, which is operated 24-7 and is even linked to a US location. When you’re nervously waiting for cannabis seeds to be shipped in the mail, having customer support to speak to is really helpful.

9. Quebec Cannabis Seeds – Most Popular Cannabis Seeds Packs

  • Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  • Ships to: Worldwide
  • Shipping time to the USA: Up to 2 weeks

Pros

  • Guaranteed germination, 80% success rate
  • Founded 2013
  • Partners with Canada Grow Supplies for growing supplies
  • Very potent THC and CBD strains

Cons

  • No physical address provided

Quebec Cannabis Seeds stands by the quality of its seeds with a germination guarantee and assurance of expert packaging – the likes of which keeps the seeds fresh while hiding them in a DVD or card, for example.

Shipping time to the U.S. was also better than average, being about 14 days.

The company sold a number of bulk & mix packages and packs of 100, which are shipped discreetly and spread across a few packages. The most interesting aspect is the company’s Limited Edition line, which lets you buy rare marijuana seeds while they stay in supply.

Quebec Cannabis Seeds was founded in 2013, but still claims to have 15 years of experience in marijuana seed retail.

10. Marijuana Seeds NL – Best Free Seeds Deal

  • Location: London, U.K. (surprisingly)
  • Ships to: Worldwide
  • Shipping time to the USA: 6-25 working days

Pros

  • Started in 1999, the first online seed bank!
  • Loyalty program that gives credits back for purchases
  • Lower price than average
  • Good deals on shipping

Cons

  • Stealth shipping costs extra

While Marijuana Seeds NL isn’t the oldest seed bank brand, it is arguably the first successful marijuana seed bank, and with a name that is still trusted today.

Though the site is registered in The Netherlands, the company is actually based in the U.K. Customers can expect a rewards program, multiple payment options (with discounts for Bitcoin and wire transfers), and free seeds.

Buyers get 2 free feminized seeds with every order, 2 free auto-flowering seeds for orders over $75, and 4 feminized / 3 auto flower seeds for free when spending over $140.

You can also get free basic stealth shipping or discounted guaranteed delivery free shipping when ordering packs of seeds. Suffice it to say that you’ll have plenty of cannabis seeds to go around.

11. MaryJanesGarden – Easy Way to Order Cannabis Seeds Online

  • Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  • Ships to: Worldwide
  • Shipping time to the USA: Same day shipping, 1-3 weeks delivery

Pros

  • Guaranteed delivery with tracking
  • Established 2003
  • Only the best seeds are sent
  • Multiple payment options including Bitcoin and Paypal

Cons

  • No wire transfers

Mary Jane’s Garden may seem new but they’ve been selling seeds online since 2003, with a higher than average 90% successful delivery rate.

The company also boasts about their highest quality seeds, using the best production process, and the strictest quality control procedures on the market.

The company also has one of the fastest delivery dates for U.S. residents, within 3 weeks, but oftentimes within 1 week because of the close proximity.

The company even has an added customer support line, so you can always chat with a team member if something happens to go wrong.

12. Sonoma Seeds – Most Promising New Seeds Bank

  • Location: Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
  • Ships to: Worldwide
  • Shipping time to the USA: 7-14 days

Pros

  • Guaranteed germination
  • Telephone support line
  • 500+ strains, a high variety
  • Multiple payment options inc. Bitcoin & cash

Cons

  • Pricey shipping
  • Average seeds price
  • New company, founded 2019

Sonoma Seeds is admirable, simply because they ship anywhere, even though they can’t support every payment method. Still, Bitcoin is accepted and even cash through the mail, which means after payment is received, you get your seeds within 2 weeks.

That’s about as discreet as you can get.

Shipping is quick because of the proximity to the US and many different strains have been collected from all over the world. But Sonoma Seeds’ fast shipping to the U.S. is what impressed us the most… a promising company to watch.

FAQs About Buying Cannabis Seeds

If you’re curious about the logistics of buying cannabis seeds online, we have answers!

Are there any weed banks in the United States?

While many companies do seem to be a Canadian seed bank store, I Love Growing Marijuana and Rocket Seeds are both based in the United States and have a reputation for high-quality seeds.

As a result, their shipping to the US tends to be pretty fast (1-2 weeks or less).

Is it legal to buy cannabis seeds in any state?

Being in possession of cannabis seeds is not illegal, since they could be bought for collectible or research purposes. However, there are some complicated federal and state laws that might result in seed confiscation, or very rarely, some legal trouble.

Cannabis remains illegal at the federal level but legal in a number of U.S. states. No wonder all seed banks use stealth shipping to avoid legal hassles and confiscation.

What’s the safest way to pay for weed seeds?

Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are the safest way to pay, since there would be no official record of you buying it, besides records maintained by the cryptocurrency wallet provider.

However, paying by cash or money order is also safe, generally speaking.

Are online seed banks legit?

Practically all the seed banks we reviewed are legitimate, have great to good customer reviews, and have been established for a few years – or in some cases, over 20 years.

Some online seed banks might not be legitimate, but the ones in this article are.

Do all reputable seed banks offer international shipping?

No, some seed banks have temporarily halted international shipping because of COVID, while others choose to only ship to the U.K., Europe, U.S. Australia, and New Zealand in order to avoid legal problems with countries with stricter cannabis laws.

Always check that your cannabis seed bank ships to your country before you buy weed seeds online.

Do all marijuana seed banks have multiple payment methods?

No, most companies stick to credit cards, Paypal, bank wire transfers, and other electronic funds transfer methods. Cryptocurrency usage is rising, however, as well as cash and money orders which are harder to trace.

Discretion is key when ordering marijuana seeds.

Is it safe to order seeds?

Generally yes, it is safe to order seeds online from reputable seed banks.

Stealth shipping involves sending seeds inside various “fake items”, like DVDs or Birthday Cards you didn’t order. Some companies constantly rotate their choice of gifts, in order not to alert delivery persons. The online seed bank also lists an alias name when charging your card or cryptocurrency account.

Sometimes seeds are confiscated, but that’s why most companies offer a delivery guarantee, with a paid tracking charge. Larger packs may also be separated into multiple packages arriving, since a large pack of pot seeds would be difficult to hide in one small gift item.

Remember you can also check online reviews of the best cannabis seed bank brands and which companies excelled at safety, shipping time, guaranteed products, and best of all, the quality of the seeds themselves.

Where to Buy Marijuana Seeds Online: The Takeaway

Our research found that I Love Growing Marijuana and Crop King Seeds were the best of the best weed seed bank stores, because of their germination and delivery guarantees, not to mention a wide variety of available strains.

ILGM also offered some cost-saving deals and gave away tons of help guides to help newcomers break into DIY marijuana plant growing.

Crop King Seeds and Seedsman both had an impressive number of strains and hard-to-find names for the experienced marijuana seeds connoisseur, with Seedsman boasting 1500+ marijuana strains.

The best weed seed sites should stand by their production processes. Anyone might be able to grow marijuana nowadays, thanks to autoflowers and feminized seeds, but not everyone can do it right.

We hope you find the perfect seed bank for your needs!

The news and editorial staffs of The Denver Post had no role in this post’s preparation.

Seed Banks FAQ

Q. How do Seed Banks Work in the USA?

A: Each state has their own laws regarding marijuana seeds, so most seed banks use an old souvenir law to get over the legal hurdles and do their business. As long as the seeds aren’t germinated they are free to mail them to you as a souvenir or for bird food/fish bait. Go to any major seed bank’s website such as ILGM and you will see a disclaimer page that announces this.

Q: Is It Safe to Buy Seeds Online?

A: Because of the many unreliable vendors selling low-quality products, it makes sense to wonder whether it’s safe to order seeds online. Fortunately, there’s minimal risk associated with ordering from online seed banks. Even customs laws shouldn’t be an issue. Some people are concerned that if their order is intercepted, they’ll end up on the law’s wrong side.

However, in most cases, the seeds won’t be detected. To guarantee this, most seed bank companies offer stealth shipping for customers worried about interception. It’s a discreet way of shipping orders where seeds are placed inside some ordinary objects like DVD cases before shipping; hence the package doesn’t raise suspicion.

Despite this, experts still advise customers against requesting expedited delivery or a shipping method that requires a signature. This helps avoid drawing attention to the package or being forced to sign for the delivery.

Individuals should also consider the payment method they’re using. Bitcoin is usually recommended as it’s encrypted and untraceable. Though, customers can choose to pay using credit cards since purchases are insured and protected.

Final Thoughts

ILGM is undoubtedly the best seed bank out there that offers US shipping. However, every site on this list is thoroughly vetted, high-reputed, and has a lot to offer.

Martian candy seeds

Martian Candy

Martian Candy (also known as Martian Candy OG) is a indica-dominant hybrid with an aroma that is out of this world. This strain smells rich with herbaceous notes and just a hint of eucalyptus. It leans heavily on the body, lowering the eyes immediately after the first puff. Its strong body buzz expands gradually, relaxing the limbs to the point of sedation with continued use. Martian Candy is ideal for patients suffering from stress, anxiety, PTSD, and nausea.

Is the refrigerator a good place to store cannabis seeds

How to Properly Store and Preserve Cannabis Seeds [Explained]

If you don’t begin with great seeds, you can forget about producing a harvest of high-quality marijuana. A lot of growers seem to forget one simple fact: Your seeds are alive! Although cannabis seeds are fairly durable, improper storage can ruin them. If you’re paying $10-$20 a seed, losing a full batch is an expensive mistake.

Before your marijuana seeds germinate, they are in a similar state to animals when they hibernate. Like all living organisms, your seeds can die if you don’t take care of them correctly. The good news is that cannabis seeds can last for five years after harvest with proper storage.

In this guide, we outline how to store and preserve your cannabis seeds. We focus on the following:

  • Light
  • Temperature
  • Humidity
  • Storage
  • Insects & Pests
  • Germinating old seeds

Keeping Light Away from Your Marijuana Seeds

You must keep your seeds in a location that is cool, dark, and dry. It is best if you keep the seeds in their original packaging. When they are exposed to temperature changes or light, cannabis seeds begin using their store of nutrients. This is a disaster because they ultimately won’t have the nutrients to germinate.

When they are exposed to temperature changes or light, cannabis seeds begin using their store of nutrients.

Make sure your seeds remain away from light, as it can directly trigger germination.

What’s the Right Storage Temperature?

The best temperature to store your cannabis seeds at is between 43- and 47-degrees Fahrenheit. The lower the temperature, the less likely your seed is to germinate unexpectedly. Experienced growers tend to have special refrigerators to store their seeds. Ideally, your fridge is a no-frost model. If you can place the seeds in the fruit and vegetable section, that is even better.

Another option is to freeze the cannabis seeds. If you go down this route, please ensure that you vacuum pack them first. Then put them in a dark container. Also, it would help if you germinated these seeds immediately once they come out of the freezer. Don’t allow them to thaw first.

What About Humidity?

Here is a quick overview of what will likely happen to cannabis seeds at different humidity levels:

Your cannabis seeds need a certain level of moisture for germination. If the humidity level gets too high, your seeds will rot in storage. An extremely low level of humidity of around 8-10% is suitable only for long-term storage. If it drops below 8%, you offer any insects present in the seeds the chance to become active and start reproducing.

The Right Storage Options for Your Cannabis Seeds

You now understand that you must store the seeds away from direct light. We have also outlined the need for relatively low humidity and a refrigerator-level temperature. Different options are available depending on how long you intend to store the seeds.

Short-Term

If you only require short-term storage, a dark drawer or cupboard is sufficient. The most important thing, regardless of the duration of storage, is to avoid temperature and humidity fluctuations. Rapid variations in temperature, in particular, can destroy your seeds. If you live in a location with warm daytime temperatures and cold nights, avoid outside storage.

For short-term storage, place the seeds in a container with desiccant. Seal it, and place it in a cool, dark place.

Medium-Term

Once you enter medium-term storage (a few months), it is time to use an airtight container. Examples include a mason jar or Ziploc bag. Place this sealed container in the fridge. Remember that opening your fridge can cause significant temperature fluctuations. As a result, it is ideal if you have a second fridge that is seldom used.

Also, you should note that modern fridges have low humidity levels. If the humidity is too low, your seeds will begin using up nutrients.

Long-Term

If you want to store your seeds for at least six months, use a vacuum-sealed container. You can achieve this effect by removing all the air from a Ziploc bag. There are also special vacuum-sealed containers available online. Put the sealed bag in a dark container and put it in the fridge.

You also have the option of placing the seeds in the freezer. Remember, though; you need to germinate them immediately upon removal.

A Note on Insects & Pests

Imagine paying $100+ for seeds, going to the trouble of storing them, only to find that insects ruin them. Unfortunately, all you need is one insect in a container to destroy all of your seeds. The first consideration is to avoid exposure to ultra-low humidity. However, for long-term storage, this is precisely what you are supposed to do!

One option is to spread diatomaceous earth (D.E) where you store them. This is a type of sand that has a fossilized algae base. Crucially, for our purposes, it serves as an excellent natural insecticide. Unfortunately, you shouldn’t use D.E if you plan to store your seeds in a fridge with other food.

Imagine paying $100+ for seeds, going to the trouble of storing them, only to find that insects ruin them.

It would help if you also stored your seeds as high above the ground as possible. This reduces the possibility of a pest like a rodent coming in and feasting on the seeds.

Insects and pests also thrive in dirty storage areas. As a result, you must ensure the storage area remains clean. Otherwise, you won’t just attract pests to your seeds; microbes will form and damage the seeds. Do you want to consume marijuana from contaminated seeds?

Germination

You can ‘test’ your seeds once you have removed them from storage. Place them in water. If they sink, they should be fine. However, if they float, it is more likely that they are bad seeds. You can still try to germinate, but there is a greater risk of producing poor-quality cannabis, or else the seeds fail to sprout. You can keep floaters in water for approximately 72 hours to see if they sprout a tail.

If you have old seeds not stored in ideal conditions, there are still a few ways to germinate them.

  • Remove the hard ridge with a sharp knife.
  • Soak the seeds in carbonated water with germination booster, fulvic acid, or hydrogen peroxide. Use room temperature water, and perform this pre-soak for at least 12 hours in a dark area.
  • Scratch the tough outer shell with sandpaper. Believe it or not, this process could help warmth and moisture get inside. This process is called ‘scarring’ and should happen before you soak the seeds.
  • Make a small cut into the shell as a last-ditch attempt to get it to sprout.

Final Thoughts on Storing and Preserving Cannabis Seeds

If you purchase marijuana seeds and intend to use them almost immediately, you should have no issues. Even so, it is probably best to keep them away from direct light. In the short-term, a dark cupboard is sufficient as long as the temperature and humidity are reasonable.

Once the goal is to store cannabis seeds for months rather than days or weeks, everything changes. You need an airtight container, which you should store in a fridge. Include a vacuum-sealed container if you plan to store the seeds for several months or longer.

When storing cannabis seeds, you must ensure they are not exposed to germination conditions. This means keeping them away from direct light. Also, store in 20-30% humidity (8-10% for long-term storage) and a cool temperature. Keep the environment clean to avoid pests, and consider the tips above for germinating old seeds.

How to Store Marijuana Seeds Properly

T here’s a lot of reasons to store marijuana seeds rather than just planting them in soil and letting them do their work. Sometimes you have some seeds leftover from your new favorite weed strain and don’t have the space available where you live to plant it. Other times, you’re buying seeds for later use once you’ve got the time and energy for your weed growing project. Maybe you’d like to hold on to precious genetics until you can seek out another strain to cross it to. Sometimes you’re just stocking up for an uncertain future.

Whatever the reason, you need to be sure those marijuana seeds stay viable in the long term. Properly stored marijuana seeds can last for up to five years and still remain viable, and some strains have been reported sprouting at ten years or more.

However, proper storage is not as easy as it seems, since seeds are looking for any excuse to start sprouting and there are a number of factors that tell the seeds that the time is right to stretch out their roots and branches. Store your marijuana seeds in the wrong conditions and they might end up dead, rotting, or diseased by the time you’re ready to introduce them to the soil.

Fundamentals of Marijuana Seed Storage

First, let’s go over the five main factors to consider when it comes to how to store marijuana seeds, especially for the long term.

Keep Your Marijuana Seeds Cool

When it comes to preserving your marijuana seeds for future planting, temperature is the main consideration. In nature, heat is what tells the seed that the winter’s over, which means that it’s time to break open and start sending roots down and shoots up.

If your marijuana seed is not in the soil, this means that the plant matter inside the seed will begin to germinate. The shell will crack open, letting the plant matter out and moisture, bacteria, and pests in. Without soil to thrive in, the marijuana seed will begin to rot.

41℉ (5 ℃) is the absolute warmest you want your long-term storage spot to be, with the sweet spot being somewhere around 38 ℉.

It’s very important that this temperature remains stable for the long term. If you are refrigerating your marijuana seeds, your best bet is to place them in a separate unit or a spot near the back. Every time that you open your fridge the temperature fluctuates, which can harm the marijuana seeds over time.

While it’s up for debate whether freezing marijuana seeds is an effective method for long term storage, we don’t recommend it unless you know exactly how to cure and prepare your seeds. Otherwise, the frozen water in the seed’s cells can expand, destroying the cell wall and killing the seed.

Watch out for Humidity

Humidity is another enemy in your battle for storing cannabis seeds long-term because any hint of moisture is another clue to the seed that it’s time to stretch its leafy arms and legs. If the marijuana seed shell breaches before it’s in the soil, rot can set in.

However, you don’t want your marijuana seed too dry either. A humidity level of about 5% is the maximum that you want to allow in order to keep the waxy, protective layer surrounding the seed intact without triggering the seed to split open.

Store Your Marijuana Seeds in an Airtight Container

Besides being dark, you want to expose your marijuana seeds to as little oxygen and carbon dioxide as possible. These gasses are what growing plants breathe, as well as the pests that consume them.

If you’re storing cannabis seeds by refrigerating them, make your container as airtight as possible. If you have some vacuum-sealed plastic on hand, even better.

Keep Your Marijuana Seeds in The Dark

Much like heat and humidity, light tells that marijuana seed to wake up because it’s time to spring forth. Even if it’s a halogen bulb inside your refrigerator and not the sun itself, the seed’s natural optimism can still start the flowering process.

Light exposure over time can also damage the surface of the seed, which in turn will damage what’s stored underneath. The solution, much like storing cannabis flower and other products, is to keep your marijuana seeds in a dark or opaque container. Without exposure to light, they’ll keep dozing long term.

Your Marijuana Seed’s Genetics

Some weed strains (and some specific batches of those strains) naturally produce seeds that are hardier and longer-lasting than others. This plays a role in how long you can expect your marijuana seeds to remain viable, so be sure to do some research beforehand.

Storage Methods for Marijuana Seeds

Now that we’ve covered how temperature, humidity, light, air, and genetics work against you when it comes to seed storage, let’s cover the best marijuana seed storage methods.

Envelopes

If you’re storing your marijuana seeds for the short term (a couple of weeks or months), a standard mailing envelope or a tan coin envelope will do in a pinch. If the envelope paper is thick enough, it will protect the seeds from the most harmful ambient light. If the envelope is stored in a cool, dry, dark, and temperature-stable spot like the back of a closet or a drawer, the marijuana seeds should also stay dormant in the short term.

Plus, an envelope makes it easy to write the name of the weed strain, the date of storage, and any other important notes you have. If you want to be extra safe about it, throw some grains of rice or a desiccant pack in there to regulate the humidity.

Of course, this method is only as good at the stability of your home’s climate. If you live in a humid area prone to frequent storms or weather fluctuations like Florida, envelopes will only get you so far without ruining your marijuana seeds.

Glass Jars

Unlike a mailing envelope, glass jars are airtight, which makes them much more suitable for storing cannabis seeds long-term. Because many types of plastic can let small amounts of water in overtime, it’s highly recommended that you use glass with rubber stoppers. When storing cannabis seeds long term, you should also throw in a desiccant pack to keep the humidity stable.

Be sure to separate the pack from the marijuana seeds with a couple cotton balls or a paper towel. This will help absorb excess moisture at the start as well. If you have a method to vacuum seal the jar even better. Wrap the jar in something opaque and you’re all set. Marijuana seeds stored at a stable room temperature can last for over a year. Refrigerated they can last a couple years.

Mylar Bags

If you’re looking to store your cannabis seeds long term, vacuum sealing your seeds in thick Mylar bags can keep your seeds viable for up to half a decade. Because the bags are designed for long-term storage, they’ll work well for your marijuana seeds as long as you make sure they were stored at the right humidity (again, a desiccant pack helps with this) and away from the light. This is one of the best options if you’re refrigerating marijuana seeds.

Seeds of Wisdom

In conclusion, storing cannabis seeds for the long haul is relatively simple. They will stay viable as long as they’re kept away from heat, light, moisture, and air. The more care you put into your storage method, the longer your marijuana seeds will last. However, when it comes to planting marijuana seeds with the most chance of success, sooner is always better.

Rythm DG Cookies review

Update. I believe I rushed my review. I smoked a small chillum more and waited a bit. This is definitely a creeper. I’m getting a real nice body high with a clear head. If this was just a tad more potent this could be a strain with potential. I really like the high from this as I ride it out.

I bought some on Tuesday and it is 25% THC/A

I got 2 jars of Cookies today on accident. I know I ordered 1 of the two strains they had on this order but somehow got 2 of these Cookies. Mistakes happen but this one stings. Evidently it is not a hybrid and is an indica, also.

First Rythm flower purchase. Looks real nice! Buds are dry but dense. Needs additional trimming. It has a nice smell. It smells way better than any Aeriz I’ve purchased. This product has been hanging out on the menu for a bit and I think I know why. It comes in at 18.61%. Sadly, they aren’t lying. It has a nice high but is not overly strong. It’s very similar to the Lava Cake I had in a couple ways but that was just a bit more potent. So definitely save your money boys and girls unless the pickings are slim. Really wish Rise didn’t mess up here.

Cannabis seeds in Washington

Washington state is located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Mount Rainier appears above Seattle and is the highest peak in the continental USA. Can you buy marijuana seeds in Washington state and get as high as Mount Rainier?

Let’s soar through the Washington cannabis laws on growing and buying marijuana seeds in Washington state.

Is it legal to buy and grow cannabis seeds in Washington?

Is weed legal in Washington? Yes, under Washington marijuana laws, recreational and medicinal use of cannabis is legal.

The possession limits are listed below.

Type Useable marijuana Cannabis-infused edibles Liquid weed Cannabis concentrates
Recreational 1 ounce 16 ounces 72 fluid ounces ¼ ounce
Medicinal 3 ounces 48 ounces 1.69 gallons ¾ ounce

Can you buy marijuana seeds in Washington?

Although recreational marijuana is legal to buy and consume, it’s illegal to grow. You can purchase cannabis seeds as collector items or souvenirs.

If you’re caught cultivating marijuana seeds in Washington state for personal use, you’ll be charged with a felony, up to 5 years in jail, and a $10,000 fine.

On the other hand, when you hold a medical marijuana card in Washington, you’re legally allowed to grow weed. As a patient, you can grow up to 6 weed plants and no more than 15 cannabis plants per household.

To become a medical weed patient, you must be diagnosed with one of the following conditions;

  • Cancer
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • PTSD
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Anorexia
  • Hepatitis C
  • Intractable pain
  • Glaucoma
  • Appetite loss
  • Cachexia
  • Epilepsy
  • Nausea
  • Spasticity disorders

Residents of Washington are pushing for changes in the law to permit cultivating for recreational use. In January 2021, House Bill 1019 was proposed to the House, which would allow adults 21 and older to grow up to 6 plants with Washington marijuana seeds. Lawmakers declined this bill, and no further action has taken place.

Should you grow weed indoors or outdoors in Washington?

For recreational use, these are recommendations to use once growing marijuana seeds in Washington state becomes legal. If you’re a medical marijuana patient in Washington, we suggest you grow indoors because of the climate.

Climate conditions

Washington state tends to be mild, with no extreme highs or lows. Summer days never get above 79°F, and the winter season doesn’t go below freezing. The colder months seldom go below 45°F.

This part of the climate works well with growing weed outdoors, but it’s the cloudy, humid, rainy part that makes cultivating marijuana seeds in Washington state difficult. The Seattle area gets about 37 inches in annual rainfall. There isn’t enough consistent sunlight to cultivate quality cannabis outside, and this amount of rain is overwhelming for pot plants.

Growing marijuana seeds in Washington state is better inside because you can control the light. You’ll need to buy artificial light for your grow room, but the humidity and temperature will be easy to maintain to keep your weed plants happy.

Cultivating during the spring and summer months will help your indoor garden stay warm during the growing cycles.

The average humidity level for Seattle is 73%, with the mornings averaging 82% and the afternoons at 62%. This is a perfect range for growing marijuana. Make sure you have a good ventilation system to help regulate the moisture when it’s high.

Best strains to grow in Washington

If you’re a medical marijuana patient and want to grow your own marijuana seeds in Washington state, we suggest looking for autoflower seeds. These pot seeds are less dependent on light cycles when growing. In cloudy Washington, this will be beneficial as natural sunlight is inconsistent.

Look into the Auto Amnesia Haze Fem seeds to home grow in Washington. It’s a strong strain that produces rich trichome buds. It’s perfect for patients suffering from chronic pain or a mental disorder because of its uplifting and calming qualities. It packs a punch with 23% THC and 0.6% CBD levels.

Another great strain for Washington state marijuana seed growers are the Auto Pineapple Fem seeds. Its ideal growing climate matches that of the Evergreen State. Once the cannabis plant is matured, you’ll enjoy the effects as well.

The Auto Pineapple Fem strain contains 21% THC and 0.6% CBD levels with a sweet pineapple flavor. It’s used medically to help treat depression, anxiety, and arthritis.

Pot growers are only allowed six plants, so looking for medical marijuana seeds in Washington state that yield fast is ideal. The Auto Northern Lights Fem seeds have a short life cycle and are resistant to diseases.

That being said, the marijuana plant still grows thick, sturdy branches. If you give it more hours of light, it will produce a larger yield.

The Auto Northern Lights Fem strain contains 22% THC and 0.6% CBD levels. When consumed, this cannabis strain creates an uplifting high and is reported to help treat PTSD, bipolar disorder, OCD, and insomnia.

Auto White Widow Fem seeds are high-yielding and do best in hydroponic or soil growing mediums. This Washington marijuana seed strain gives you a great mental high with 25% THC and 0.8% CBD levels. You’ll feel happy and a rush of positive emotions.

The Auto White Widow Fem seeds are a great addition to your indoor garden in Washington.

If you’re a beginner Washington state marijuana seed grower, the Auto Girl Scout Cookies Fem seeds are the way to go. The strain thrives in almost all types of environments and stays a manageable size. When consumed, this strain helps relieve aches and pains with its anti-inflammatory properties.

The Auto Girl Scout Cookies Fem strain contains 22% THC and 0.6% CBD levels. You’ll feel happy and relaxed when consumed, and it has a chocolate mint flavor. You won’t be disappointed growing this marijuana strain.

These are just a few of the marijuana seeds in Washington state to buy for your indoor garden. You can look for high THC seeds or indica seeds online for more options.

Can you buy cannabis seeds?

Although an increasing number of states are relaxing restrictions on growing cannabis at home, Washington is not one of them, as of press time.

While a bill that would allow adults 21 years and older to grow recreational-use cannabis at home has been introduced in the Washington state Legislature, currently the only legal exception for home growing is medical. If you have a Washington medical marijuana card, you can grow a small number of plants without registering, and up to 15 if registered.

If that’s the case, and you’re ready to start planting, where can you find seeds?

The short answer? It’s complicated. Even if you live in California, where it is legal for adults to grow cannabis at home, and you purchase seeds from a California-based seed bank, your package can still be confiscated if mailed.

In fact, you could get in more trouble for buying seeds from within the U.S. than from overseas, which is why the majority of reputable seed banks are in Europe.

How to buy seeds

Even though the United States is one of the world’s most progressive countries in terms of cannabis legalization, the herb remains federally illegal. For this reason, it might be best to get your seeds from a friend or buy directly from a licensed shop. However, in these cases, you’ll have limited options that may not be suited to how and what type of cannabis you want to grow.

For more variety you can buy seeds online, although there are risks. Consider having them shipped to a state where growing marijuana at home is legal. That way, if your package gets intercepted, it’s unlikely you will face legal consequences. But you may still face legal jeopardy if you have to cross state lines to bring them home.

You should also make your purchase from a reputable seed bank capable of shipping to numerous states that understands the need for discretion. If the seeds are confiscated, most firms will either send a new package for free or refund your money.

Where to buy seeds

One of the more trustworthy sellers in the United States is I Love Growing Marijuana. Its website features information about growing, what types of seeds you’ll need and more. The website and store are run by Robert Bergman, an expert cultivator, and provides free shipping to customers in the United States and Europe.

Other online marijuana seed sellers in the U.S. may use incorrect labels when shipping, with terms like “luxury bird food” or “fishing bait additives.” Stores also may sell seeds as “collector items” or “additives.”

Another site worth exploring is the Royal Seed Bank from Canada. This site breaks everything down by the legality of each U.S. state and provides a variety of options.

Since most seed banks that offer cannabis seeds source them from seed banks in European countries, you may want to search there too.

Cannabis seeds are not illegal in the European Union, and technically it’s not illegal to purchase seeds from another country. The Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, a 1962 framework for marijuana legalization, is an international treaty signed by 180 countries stating that marijuana is classified as an illegal substance, but it says nothing about seeds.

Therefore, since international law takes precedence over a country’s own laws, cannabis seeds are technically legal in all 180 countries. However, when a product enters a European country, it becomes subject to that nation’s laws, which means it’s not easy to purchase seeds. For example, here is a look at cannabis seed laws in a few major European nations:

Germany: Seeds do not fall under the German Narcotics Act, so they are technically legal to purchase. Germany has prohibited the sale of cannabis seeds nationwide, but since the country is subject to the EU’s free movement of goods, having seeds sent to Germany is fine.

United Kingdom: At present, the UK allows for the purchase, sale, or trade of cannabis seeds whether you purchase them domestically or from another European nation.

Netherlands: Despite the nation’s relaxed attitude towards marijuana, it is still illegal to possess or purchase. However, you should have no issue purchasing cannabis seeds from a Dutch-based seed company.

Spain: Spain has a similarly lenient policy as the UK. Residents can buy and sell seeds if they are for personal use in private areas.

What to buy

There are three distinct types of cannabis seeds.

Regular seeds come from one female and one male parent and there’s a 50/50 chance that the plant will be the feminized version that will produce buds. However, you have no control of the plant’s gender and there’s always a chance you’ll waste weeks growing, only to learn a male plant will not yield what you’re seeking.

Feminized seeds have no male chromosomes and are guaranteed to provide resinous bud.

Autoflowering seeds are your best option if you want to grow indoors. These seeds have genetics which evolved in northern Eurasia, which makes them strong and sturdy. They are also mixed with cannabis ruderalis, a plant known for its ability to grow in harsh weather conditions.

One of the biggest advantages of autoflowering seeds is their ability to produce a minimum of two outdoor crops. When you grow them indoors, however, you can produce four or five crops a year, and certain strains can become mature in as little as 10 weeks. They are heavily resistant to mold and pests and produce a higher yield when exposed to powerful light sources.

Final thoughts

You can learn more about the different types of seeds, strains, and how best to grow them on most seed bank websites along with any applicable local laws. Do your research, and keep in mind how, where, what and when you want to grow before making a purchase.

Always buy from a reputable seed bank. The last thing you want is to buy what you think are feminized seeds, only to discover that they are regular seeds only capable of producing male plants.

How much you will pay for seeds depends on the strain you buy. Typically, a pack of 10-12 seeds can be as low as $40 but expect to pay up to $500 for high-end strains.

You can purchase seeds within most states where growing cannabis is legal, but the issue is still complicated by the fact that the plant is federally illegal.

In the United States, cannabis seeds cannot cross state lines. Though rare, transporting the products across state lines could result in federal charges. This is true even if you are purchasing cannabis seeds in a state that authorizes it and are entering a state that also authorizes it.

For that reason, you may want to seek the advice of an attorney well-versed in cannabis law to make sure you are protected when buying seeds.

6 Things to Know Before You Order Weed Seed Online

1. Look for high germination rates & guarantees

High germination rates mean most of the seeds will grow into healthy plants. Many reputable seed banks also offer germination guarantees to refund your purchase if a certain percentage of your pot seeds don’t germinate.

This is an essential factor because a high germination rate means you’re more likely to get a good yield from your grow. The best seed banks offer guarantees because they’re confident that you’ll see strong cannabis plants from their seeds.

It’s always nice to have a guarantee!

2. Check for accurate strain information

Do they know their Gelato from their White Widow?

It’s vital to find cannabis seed banks that provide accurate strain information. The best seed banks will include information on the THC and CBD content and the indica/sativa ratio.

This information is crucial in helping you choose the right strain for your needs.

3. Positive customer reviews are always a good thing

When you’re looking for a quality seed bank, positive customer reviews should be one of your primary indicators. Look for banks that have been vetted by other growers and have a good reputation.

Third-party forums like Reddit, ResellerRatings, and TrustPilot are great – don’t trust the company’s own testimonials… they’re obviously biased.

Reputable seed banks will also have a customer service team that is responsive and helpful. Reviews should indicate that the team is knowledgeable and willing to go above and beyond to help their customers.

4. Check for seed banks that ship discreetly (“stealth shipping”)

Shipping is a huge factor when you buy marijuana seeds online. The most reputable seed banks will offer fast and discreet shipping to ensure your seeds arrive safely and on time.

Stealth is key when it comes to shipping cannabis seeds, so look for banks that use discreet packaging or “stealth shipping”.

You don’t want your seeds confiscated by customs!

Discreet shipping is when your marijuana seeds are hidden inside everyday objects such as DVD cases, birthday cards, and cheap children’s toys.

Some companies may also offer “guaranteed delivery” where they will refund you or send our free seeds if your previous order is confiscated in the mail.

5. Does this company offer advice and help?

The best cannabis seed banks like I Love Growing Marijuana will offer helpful guides and resources to help you grow your plants successfully.

Look for banks that provide step-by-step guides, how-to videos, and troubleshooting tips. It’s good to feel that they care about your success in growing cannabis plants.

6. How can you pay? Do they accept bitcoin and major credit cards?

Many seed banks offer the most accessible payment options when paying for your seeds. Look for places that accept major credit cards, PayPal, and cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin.

Many growers like to pay in Bitcoin or Cash because it’s hard to trace it back to you.

You should also consider places that offer discounts for bulk seed orders. This can save you a lot of money in the long run.

Autoflowering, Regular, or Feminized? How to Choose Which Pot Seeds to Grow

1. Decide on your desired effects

Before buying marijuana seeds, you need to decide what effects you want from your own plant.

Do you want a strain that will help you relax and de-stress? Or do you want a strain that will give you an energetic creative boost?

Are you into sweet, earthy flavors? Or do you prefer strains that taste like citrus or pine? It’s essential to buy a strain that you will enjoy.

There are thousands of different cannabis strains on the market, and each one provides its own unique effects. Do some research and figure out which strain is right for you.

2. Consider your level of weed-growing experience

If you’re a first-time grower, it’s crucial to buy easy-to-grow cannabis seeds. Autoflowering seeds are a great option for beginners, as they don’t require a lot of experience or knowledge to grow.

On the other hand, if you’re an experienced grower, you may want to buy feminized seeds or regular seeds that are more challenging to grow. These strains often have higher THC levels and can be more challenging to cultivate.

Most online seed banks will stock your strain of choice in multiple seed types.

3. Think about your grow space

Before buying cannabis seeds, you need to think about your grow space. Indoor growers will have different needs than outdoor growers. So make sure you purchase well-suited seeds for your particular grow space.

For example, if you’re growing indoors, you’ll want to buy seeds that don’t get too big. If you’re growing outdoors, buy seeds resistant to pests and diseases.

Don’t forget to take your climate into account too!

4. Check the THC and CBD levels

Not all cannabis strains are created equal. For example, some strains have high THC levels, while others have high CBD levels.

If you’re looking for a strain with potent psychoactive effects, buy seeds with high THC levels. If you’re looking for a strain with medicinal properties, buy seeds with high CBD levels.

5. Consider a strain’s unique growing needs

Some cannabis strains have unique growing needs. This could mean that the plant needs a lot of light or that the plant is more difficult to grow.

Do your research and make sure you buy a strain that you’re able to grow easily.

Buying Weed Seeds Online FAQs

How Can I Start Growing Marijuana Plants?

You can start growing marijuana plants by buying a strain that is well-suited for your grow space and growing skill level. Always buy from a reputable seed bank like I Love Growing Marijuana . ILGM offers a wide variety of strains and resources to help you get started.

Popular Indica strains include:

  • Northern Lights
  • Grandaddy Purple
  • Blueberry
  • Hindu Kush
  • Afghan Kush
  • Blue Gelato
  • Blue Cheese

Check your seed bank and look for strains that are heavily Indica-dominant.

How Many Seeds Can I Grow at a Time to Ensure High Germination Rates?

It’s best to stick to one seed per pot to ensure high germination rates. However, if you decide to plant multiple seeds in one pot, make sure to remove the weaker plants once they germinate.

This will help ensure that the more robust plants survive.

How Do Autoflowering Seeds Compare to Feminized Seeds?

Autoflowering seeds are an excellent option for beginners, as they don’t require a lot of experience or knowledge to grow. However, feminized seeds are better suited for experienced growers.

Choose seeds based on your experience level.

What’s the Difference Between Regular and Medical Cannabis Seeds?

Medical marijuana seeds are designed to produce plants with high CBD levels. This makes them ideal for medicinal use.

Regular marijuana seeds are designed to produce plants with high THC levels. This makes them suitable for recreational use.

Is It Safe To Order Weed Seeds Online?

It is generally safe to order weed seeds online if you’re buying from a trusted seller that uses discreet “stealth shipping” procedures to hide your seeds in the mail. Paying with cash or Bitcoin also makes it hard to trace the weed order back to you, so look for sellers with these payment options.

You don’t want to be nervous after ordering your seeds!

Is It Legal to Buy Marijuana Seeds Online in the US?

The legality of purchasing marijuana seeds will depend upon the state in which you live. In some states, it is legal to buy seeds for personal use. In other states, it is only legal to buy seeds for medical or industrial purposes.

Check the local laws in your state.

Dirty Girl Feminized Cannabis Seeds

As soon as you smoke Dirty Girl Feminized Cannabis Seeds, it’s going to be hard not to taste the delicious combination of tropical, fruity, and citrusy flavors. It’s a delightful strain that will have you savoring all of the fruity goodness throughout. The intensity of the taste varies depending on how you’re smoking this weed:

It tastes intense if you’re vaping it. The flavors in these buds explode and don’t lose too much intensity when vaped. If you pack your joint or bong with this bud, then prepare to get a little overwhelmed by the taste because it’s pretty potent. If you’re using this weed for cooking, it’s best to use the mid-range of the flavor spectrum because if you go too high, it might taste too strong.

This strain has a pretty interesting mix of smells. When you’re growing it, the buds are filled with an earthy pungency backed by a sweet lemony pine scent. That combination creates this unique blend that ends up smelling good. It’s even more impressive when you grind these buds open because then that sweetness explodes, and you’ll get a whiff of tropical flavors. It’s an exciting mix of smells, and it certainly keeps things from being too monotonous or bland.

Dirty Girl is a blend of 70% Sativa and 30% Indica. The average person might find that this strain provides a little more clarity than usual without making the body feel too lazy. It’s not going to cause couch-lock, but it will ease your mind while also giving you a slight sense of peace at the same time.

This is a pretty potent weed strain coming in at 22% THC, which is why it’s best for people who are used to weaker types of cannabis. The CBD is relatively low with this strain, but that isn’t likely to be too much of an issue unless you’re extremely sensitive to the adverse side effects that come from high THC levels.

Effects Of Our Dirty Girl Strain

Dirty Girl Feminized Cannabis Seeds are for first-time users because they are pretty potent. The high THC levels will make it feel like you’ve taken a few edibles by the time you’re finished smoking this strain. This strain has a pretty quick onset, and after you feel the effects, they’ll steadily build up over the next 20 minutes. They’ll hit you hard, so be ready for some powerful cerebral impacts that could lead to some troubles with balance.

Don’t expect Dirty Girl Feminized Cannabis Seeds to make you feel very sedated. It’s pretty clearheaded, and even though it provides a moderate amount of relaxation, your mental state isn’t going to be altered too much. That means that you’ll still be able to get stuff done without feeling like you’re about to go into a stoner-coma. Dirty Girl is best used for treating stress, pain, and depression.

How Does Dirty Girl Strain Grow?

Dirty Girl Feminized Cannabis Seeds are a relatively easy strain to grow, and Dirty Girl is not the best choice if you have no experience growing cannabis. It’s not too challenging, but it requires some knowledge about properly maintaining this plant during its life cycle.

You can grow Dirty Girl Feminized Seeds indoors or outdoors, but it is known to be a pretty small plant. Its average height makes it an easy plant to raise wherever you want, and it won’t take up too much space and will probably do fine in most areas of the world under the right conditions.

Dirty Girl has a pretty average height, only around 3 feet tall. This makes it easy to grow indoors, where space usually comes at a premium, but the plant will also do just fine if you want to grow it outdoors as well. You can set this weed strain up in almost all areas of the world, and it will likely be just fine.

The trichomes on this plant are usually relatively straightforward, with the occasional shade of cloudy white. The hairs are orange in color, and they can be seen throughout the bud giving it a lovely overall appearance.

Dirty Girl Strain Review – Bonza Blog

Dirty Girl is, without a doubt, a rather indelicate name for a cannabis strain. However, nothing can be farther from the truth. If anything, the only aspect the Sativa-dominant strain provokes are profound thoughts that last for hours throughout the day. Meanwhile, its tropical-scented vapor stimulates the nasal senses.

Its heart-racing start is from Arcata Lemon Wreck, a rare phenotype of Trainwreck with a propensity for spiking up energy along with the mood. Cinderella 99 complements the effects with its similar cerebral high and soothing body high. Although, it adds a twist by passing on its impressive performance in the grow room. After all, it is touted as the ultimate indoor marijuana of Sativa strains.

With such parents, it is not surprising that Dirty Girl is an easy-to-grow hybrid with buds that deliver a cerebral euphoric buzz. It is notoriously potent and racy which appeals highly to true Sativa lovers. Apart from cloaking the mind in an uplifting and dreamy haze, it has a short build with epic yields straight off a cannabis fairytale.

Dirty Girl Strain Quick Facts
Genetic Lineage Arcata Lemon Wreck x Cinderella 99
Sativa / Indica Ratio 70/30
THC % 17% to 28%
Climate Mediterranean climate
Flowering Period 8 to 9 weeks / Early October
Average Yield 300 to 350 g/sqm / 350 g/plant

Odor and Flavors

Often lauded for its flavorful buds, it permeates a sweet and spicy mix that make it seem like a fruit basket had been placed in the room. Pungent overtones accompany a subtle tanginess too. On the exhale, it leaves a refreshing aftertaste of pine which is one of its winning attributes.

Effects

Like other Sativa-dominant strains, Dirty Girl induces a high-flying cerebral high that starts within minutes after the first two or three puffs. When it hits, a buzzing sensation that raises energy levels is felt all over the body. Beginning in the mind, it enhances the mood and leaves users felling happier than ever.

Blissful yet functional, its rush of euphoria mentally prepares people for a productive-filled day. It clears the mind but ushers in profound thoughts. With an upbeat disposition, one’s resolve to complete tasks and come up with innovative concepts is strengthened. For this reason, it is a wonderful companion during a casual brainstorming session with friends or like-minded colleagues.

Dirty Girl Effects – Image powered by Thecannabist.co

As the high progresses, the body gently slides into a relaxed state without any sedative apprehensions. It has a compounding effect on focus so enthusiasts can concentrate for longer periods of time without feeling distracted by either unwanted thoughts or sudden pain. One can already guess a blissful ending awaits users at the comedown.

However, if it used beyond limits, the clean experience can be muddied by a psychedelic turnabout.

Adverse Reactions

Normally used as an afternoon pick-me-up, its high THC can turn a leisurely cerebral trip into mental overdrive when smoked beyond one’s individual tolerance. The double-edged side effects are usually marked by a temporary dizziness, subtle headache, and a bout of paranoia as the disorienting high persists. Most of the time, however, users only experience dryness in the eyes and the mouth.

Medical Use and Benefits

Dirty Girl can indeed perk up the mood. To do so, it frees the mind from stress by inducing a calming euphoria that clears away the weight of negativity so one floats toward cloud nine. This is also precisely why it helps in managing the symptoms of depression. Meanwhile, anxiolytic properties that come with it helps reduce anxiety.

The same psychoactive compound also stimulates the appetite. As such, one of the best times to use the strain is right before a meal. For this reason, it is a great for patients suffering from eating disorders and cachexia.

Another use of the herb’s energizing effect is dealing with the exhaustion that comes with fatigue. During the onset and for the next hour or two, it revitalizes the mind and the body to fight off tiredness effectively and stay productive.

This strain also has analgesic and anti-inflammatory properties that help ease headaches, backaches, joint aches, cramps, and muscle spasms. Free from the shackles of physical pain, users can enjoy the rest of the afternoon feeling limber and sharper than ever.

Growing Dirty Girl

Dirty Girl is a striking plant that is unlike any other Sativa strains. Apart from being crowned by diamond-encrusted trichomes, it has the sturdy structure of an Indica. Its stalks, though relatively tall, are not at all lanky. Rather, it, along with its branches, are thick enough to withstand gusts of wind but will still need support to keep it from breaking into two from the weight of its heavy buds.

With a natural resistance to mold, mildew, and other moisture-related diseases, this plant will do well in either indoor or outdoor settings with high levels of humidity. Moreover, its versatility is apparent in its ability to adapt to various growing methods or mediums.

For example, it will produce vigorously with a hydroponics medium but will have an edge on flavor when cultivated in soil. Using a Screen of Green set-up will help growers identify which parts to cut as well as improve bud growth. At just 8 to 9 weeks of indoor flowering time, it can easily produce 300 to 350 grams of gluey buds per square meter.

It thrives best under the heat of the sun in a Mediterranean area where the days are longer. This is not to say that it will not flourish in the northern hemisphere. On the contrary, its hardy structure allows it to produce buds by early October with each plant producing 350 grams of buds.

Have you grown or used Dirty Girl strain? If not, would you like to get your hands on this strain? Please leave a comment to let us know what you think. We want to hear from you.

Legality of buying cannabis seeds

Can You Legally Buy Cannabis Seeds Online?

A substantial number of states allow medical marijuana, along with a growing number of places that have legalized recreational cannabis. The public is becoming more aware of the potential benefits of marijuana. People also realize that the damaging side effects of cannabis are often overstated, although some are real. Nonetheless, there is a softening in the stance towards the plant, which is even apparent on a political level.

As well as allowing people to use weed, an increasing number of states are relaxing restrictions on growing it at home.
You’ll need seeds to do so, but this is where it gets complicated for American residents in particular. Even if you live in California, where it is legal to grow cannabis at home, and purchase seeds from a Colorado-based seed bank, your package can STILL be confiscated.

Indeed, you could get in more trouble buying seeds from within the US than from an overseas country! This is the reason why most reputable seed banks that you hear about are located in Europe! This article delves deeper into the legality surrounding the purchase of cannabis seeds in the United States and offers tips to ensure you buy a high-quality product.

Marijuana Seeds Law

Cannabis remains a federally illegal substance in the United States. The plant’s seeds are also classified as cannabis, just like concentrate, flower, or edibles. As cannabis seeds are legal in certain states, seed banks operate within America’s borders. However, most of the best-known sellers operate in Canada or Europe. Let’s find out who can purchase seeds in the United States.

Is It Legal to Buy Cannabis Seeds Online in Any State?

As the nation’s cannabis laws state that the substance is federally illegal, it is technically against the law to buy, sell, or use it anywhere in the country. Indeed, the federal government could arrest someone for consuming cannabis if they so choose because federal law supersedes state law.

However, a majority of states allow medical marijuana, and a growing number permit adult-use cannabis. At present, the United States government has shown no indication that it wishes to interfere with a state’s right to legalize marijuana.

The current situation means you can legally get a cannabis seed from a dispensary in states where recreational cannabis is legal. In medical marijuana states, you’ll need to produce an MMJ card. Otherwise, you’re not allowed to purchase cannabis seeds.

Things are different online. It is illegal to transport cannabis seeds across state lines regardless of whether the plant is legal in both states. Therefore, you can only buy the seeds online if the seller is located within your state, and it is a location where adult-use marijuana is allowed.

Of course, you can take the risk of having your seeds confiscated by trying to order online anyway.

Is There Any Reputable American Seed Bank?

Although the United States is one of the world’s most progressive countries in marijuana legalization, the plant remains federally illegal. As long as this remains the case, users face all manner of complications. Ultimately, purchasing marijuana seeds online is only possible if you live in one of a select few states.

If you are concerned about legal issues, we recommend purchasing your seeds directly from a dispensary rather than buying them online. However, residents of Colorado should have no difficulties in theory. Stores such as The Farm and The Green Solution regularly advertise their online seed options. It should be a quick and easy process to buy them online if you are a resident of Colorado.

Elsewhere, it can be a matter of pot luck (pun intended). First and foremost, we can only recommend online seed purchases if you live in a state where growing marijuana at home is legal. If your package gets intercepted, you could face legal consequences, although this unfortunate situation is relatively rare.

You need a reputable seed bank capable of shipping to numerous states that understands the need for discretion. Such companies know how to package their goods to evade detection. If the seeds are confiscated, the firm will either send a new package for free or refund your money.

Which American Seeds Banks Are the Best?

California-based I Love Growing Marijuana (ILGM) is one of the most trustworthy seed sellers we have found in the United States. The website and store are run by Robert Bergman, who is an expert marijuana cultivator. He offers dozens of options and provides FREE shipping to customers in the United States and Europe.

Rocket Seeds is another American seed bank with a positive reputation. It operates out of the Bronx, New York, and is famed for its rapid shipping.

There are numerous Canadian seed banks known for selling excellent products. Noteworthy brands include Crop Seed Kings, MJSeeds, and Beaver Seeds.

Certain online marijuana seed sellers in the United States try to use subterfuge to ensure their customers receive the seeds.

It is possible to buy seeds from stores only if they are ‘used’ as luxury bird food or fishing bait additives.

In February 2015, one month after cannabis legalization went into effect in Washington D.C., the D.C. Cannabis Campaign organized a ‘seed sharing’ event in the country’s capital. As part of the new law, anyone aged 21+ who attended the event was legally allowed to receive an ounce of seeds. Unfortunately, the laws surrounding purchasing marijuana seeds online in the US have remained as clear as mud in the years since.

European Marijuana Seed Banks

Many of the American seed banks that offer marijuana seeds source them from a seed bank in a European country. When we bemoan the issues that cause federal and state laws to become unclear and confusing, it is important to remember that the US is effectively a continent with 50 different states and additional territories.

Europe is also a continent, and it also has more than 50 countries. The laws surrounding marijuana seeds vary according to each nation but become less confusing because they are separate states. That’s not to say that things don’t become complex!

In principle, cannabis seeds are not illegal in Europe, and it is possible to purchase seeds from another country. In general, when a product enters a European country, it becomes subject to that nation’s laws. The Single Convention on Narcotic Drugs, a 1962 framework for marijuana legalization, is an international treaty that was signed by 180 countries.

In the treaty, marijuana is classed as an illegal substance, but marijuana seeds are not illegal. As international law takes precedence over a country’s own laws, cannabis seeds are technically legal in all 180 countries. Alas, it isn’t as easy as that, and it is much safer to purchase seeds from one European country than another. Here’s a look at marijuana seed laws in a few major European nations:

  • Germany: As seeds don’t fall under the German Narcotics Act, they are technically legal to purchase. However, Germany has prohibited the sale of cannabis seeds across the nation, the only EU member state to have done so. As Germany is subject to the EU’s free movement of goods, having seeds sent to Germany is fine.
  • United Kingdom: At present, the UK allows for the purchase, sale, or trade of cannabis seeds whether you purchase them domestically or from another European nation. American buyers tend to use UK sellers such as Seedsman, who have been selling seeds globally since 2003. However, we’re not sure what will happen once the UK has left the EU. By the way, UK residents are not allowed to germinate cannabis seeds.
  • Netherlands: It is shocking to learn that despite the nation’s relaxed attitude towards marijuana, it is still illegal! However, you should have no issue purchasing cannabis seeds from a Dutch-based seed company. Companies such as Nirvana, MSNL Seeds, and Amsterdam Marijuana Seeds also enjoy good reputations.
  • France: Cannabis seeds are legal as long as they are not used for growing. However, you will struggle to find any reputable French cannabis seed dealer.
  • Spain: Spain has a similarly lenient policy as the UK. Residents can buy and sell seeds as long as they are for personal use in private areas. Shops need legal authorization to sell seeds. Alicante-based Herbie’s Seeds is a highly rated seed bank.

Types of Marijuana Seeds Available

There are three distinct types of marijuana seeds.

Regular Marijuana Seeds

These seeds come from one female and one male parent. As a result, there is a 50/50 chance that the plant will be the feminized version that carries all of those wonderful cannabinoids. As you have no control of the plant’s gender, there is a chance that you’ll waste weeks waiting for the gender to be revealed.

Feminized Marijuana Seeds

You should purchase feminized seeds instead of their regular counterparts. These seeds have no male chromosomes and are guaranteed to provide resinous bud. In other words, you don’t have to wait for a guarantee which is NOT the case with ‘regular’ seeds.

Autoflowering Marijuana Seeds

This type of seed is your best option if you want to grow your weed indoors. These seeds have genetics that evolved in northern Eurasia which means they are strong and sturdy. They are mixed with Cannabis Ruderalis, a plant known for its ability to grow in harsh weather conditions.

One of the biggest advantages of autoflowering seeds is their ability to produce a minimum of two outdoor crops. When you grow them indoors, however, you can produce four or five crops per annum. Certain strains can become mature in just ten weeks! They are heavily resistant to mold and pests and produce a much higher yield when exposed to a powerful light source.

How to Buy Cannabis Seeds Online Safely

Your safest bet is to stick to one of the reputable seedbanks outlined in this article. Look for companies that have been in the industry for a long time and have earned a significant number of positive customer reviews.

When you purchase a packet of marijuana seeds, make sure the seller explains where the seeds came from and how they were crossed or backcrossed. Don’t risk your money on seeds with no history because there’s no way of telling what you’ll end up with.

The top-rated seed banks are old hands when it comes to getting their products through customs. Some of them offer discreet shipping, which usually involves hiding the seeds in other objects. Therefore, even if a customs official opens the package, it looks like someone else.

The perfect place for seeds…

For your part, it makes sense to make a few small or medium orders. First of all, a large order could draw unwanted attention. Secondly, if one of the packages is confiscated, you won’t lose your entire order.

Finally, you could consider paying via cryptocurrency. Digital currencies such as Bitcoin leave no official record. The issue here is that the volatility of crypto means your order could become expensive in hindsight. Imagine paying in Bitcoin, only to discover that the digital currency’s value doubles in the following two weeks!

Final Thoughts on Buying Marijuana Seeds Online

As much as we would love to provide a definitive answer to the title question, we have to admit that it is complicated. You can purchase seeds within most states where growing marijuana is legal, but the issue is clouded by the fact that marijuana is federally illegal. Then there is the small matter of the nuances of state and even local law.

You should be able to purchase from seed banks in the UK and Netherlands, but make sure you do your research and find a reputable company. The last thing you want is to buy what you think are feminized seeds, only to discover that they are regular seeds capable of producing male plants!

EDITOR’S CHOICE – Homegrown CannabisCo

Homegrown CannabisCo are the masters when it comes to seeds. Offering a massive variety of cannabis seeds that are well categorized, not only does this company create a resource for superb quality options including feminized seeds, it also provides extensive growing information for those looking for some support along their journey.

Will Customs Confiscate My Cannabis Seeds?

Yes, but only if they find them! Some reputable seed banks claim that customs confiscate only 5% of their shipments. A growing number of seed banks use discreet shipping. This involves sending additional ‘gifts’ you didn’t order to conceal the seeds. You’ll receive a confiscation letter instead of the seeds if your purchase is halted at customs. However, the top-rated seed banks tend to offer a money-back guarantee if this happens.

Is It Illegal to Send Seeds in the Mail?

As cannabis is federally illegal, transporting the plant’s seeds across state lines is against the law. This is the case even if you are sending them from one adult-use state to another. However, there is little chance of getting into legal trouble. For a start, it is possible to buy them for research or collectible purposes rather than using them to grow plants.

You’re more likely to get in trouble for sending marijuana seeds from one state to another in America than sending them into the US from abroad. However, it is rare to hear of anyone getting into legal trouble for sending cannabis seeds in the mail. Usually, the worst-case scenario is that your seeds are confiscated.

Why Are Most of the Top Seed Banks International?

It is mainly due to legal issues. The world’s best seed banks are generally located in places like the Netherlands, UK, and Spain, where marijuana laws aren’t as strict as in the United States. US cannabis law means an American seed bank faces greater legal issues when sending products from one state to another than their international equivalent.

However, there are a few high-quality American seed banks, such as I Love Growing Marijuana.

Can Non-Residents Buy Seeds Online?

It is not a good idea! As marijuana is federally legal, non-residents can be deported from the United States if they have a job in a legal cannabis dispensary! Indeed, even the use of legal marijuana can result in deportation. Therefore, we would urge non-residents NOT to purchase cannabis seeds online or in a dispensary. Even if there is a relatively small chance of being caught, it isn’t worth the risk.

Is Ordering Cannabis Seeds Online Safe?

The answer is ‘yes,’ but only as long as you buy the seeds from a reputable seed bank. Apart from I Love Growing Marijuana, MSNL Seed Bank, Crop Seed Kings, and Sensi Seeds have all established a reputation for high-quality seeds. These companies provide seeds with a high germination rate and offer an excellent range of strains.

A guide to buying cannabis seeds

The first couple months of the year is a great time to start planning your cannabis garden to get a head start on the outdoor growing season, which roughly runs from March to November, depending on where you live.

Navigating the cannabis seed market can be challenging when states have different degrees of legality. This guide will answer your questions on buying seeds so you can be on your way to growing your own cannabis.

Is it legal to buy marijuana seeds?

Marijuana seeds are considered a cannabis product just like flower, edibles, and concentrates. Their legality depends on which state you live in. People living in states with adult-use legalization can buy, produce, and sell seeds within their own state, but seeds can’t cross state lines. People living in states with medical marijuana legalization can only buy seeds if they have a medical card.

Seed banks exist outside of the US and can sell them for “souvenir purposes,” but it is illegal to bring seeds into the US and Customs will seize any cannabis seeds they find in packages or on a person.

Where can I buy cannabis seeds?

Many world-renowned seed banks are overseas in the Netherlands, the UK, Spain, and other countries where cannabis laws are less restricted. Seed banks provide seeds from a variety of different breeders.

In states with adult-use legalization or a medical marijuana program, you can buy seeds within your own state, either at a dispensary or through a specific seed company’s website.

Can you buy cannabis seeds online?

Before you purchase seeds online, you’ll need to figure out what strain you want to grow and what breeder you want to buy from.

Because US federal law still prohibits cannabis, it can be hard to find information on seed banks and breeders. Breeders who have a long history and positive reputation are usually a good place to start.

Check out our explainer and buying guide to cannabis seed banks for more info on buying seeds.

To get an idea of what well-established breeders look like, check out:

Europe

  • Sensi Seeds
  • DNA Genetics
  • Dinafem
  • Green House Seeds

US

  • Southern Humboldt Seed Collective
  • Exotic Genetix

You can also do some research and find an online grow journal that details the whole growing process of a specific strain from a particular breeder. Through these, you’ll be able to look over another grower’s specific notes and see pictures of the final results.

If you grow some seeds and like the results, try growing another strain from that same breeder and see how it goes.

Do dispensaries sell cannabis seeds?

Some dispensaries in medical and adult-use states sell seeds, but not all. Be sure to check or call ahead to see if they sell seeds. Buying marijuana seeds at the dispensary is far more straightforward, however, your options will be more limited than shopping online.

Dispensary staff should be able to give you information on the seeds they’re selling, but keep in mind that a lot of dispensaries focus on selling flower and end-products. It’s a good idea to call ahead and talk to staff to see if they are knowledgeable about seeds and can give you specific information on growing.

How to look for quality genetics when buying marijuana seeds

Breeders talk about “unstable genetics,” meaning that a seed’s origin is unknown. Make sure that when you buy a packet of seeds that it or the breeder who produced them can list where the seeds came from and how they were crossed and/or backcrossed to get the seed that you hold in your hand. If you can’t get a seed’s history, it could be anything and the result of poor breeding practices.

An inexperienced breeder might cross a male and a female one time and sell the resulting seeds as a new hybrid strain, but professional breeders usually put their strains through several rounds of backcrossing to stabilize the genetics and ensure consistent plants that reflect those genetics.

Which strain should I grow?

Even one weed plant can produce a lot of buds come harvest time, so make sure you grow a strain you like. Note strains you enjoy when you pick something up at the dispensary or smoke with friends, and look for seeds of it when you want to start growing.

Some strains are easier to grow than others because they are more resistant to mold and pests, so if you’re new to growing, you may want to try an easier strain to start.

Some strains also take longer to grow than others. Depending on whether you’re growing indoors or outdoors, you may want to grow a quicker marijuana strain if you live in a climate that get cold and wet early in the season. For example, indicas are known for having a shorter flowering time than sativas.

All of this information should be available to you when buying quality seeds.

What’s the difference between regular, feminized, and autoflower seeds?

Regular seeds

If you buy a packet of regular seeds, they’ll come with a mix of males and females. A lot of cultivators prefer to grow these because they haven’t been backcrossed—essentially inbred—as much as feminized or autoflower seeds. You’ll need to sex out the seeds once their reproductive organs show during the flowering phase and discard the males—because they don’t produce buds and will pollenate females, resulting in seeded flowers.

Feminized seeds

Seeds can come feminized, meaning you can just put them in soil and start growing for buds. These seeds are guaranteed to be bud-producing females and growing them cuts out the step of having to sex out plants and discard the males.

It also reduces the risk of having a stray male sneak into your crop—just one male can pollinate a huge crop, causing your females to focus their energies on producing seeds instead of buds.

Autoflower seeds

Autoflower plants change from the vegetative to flowering state with age, not the changing of their light cycle. They have a short grow-to-harvest time and can be ready to harvest in as little as 2 ½ to 3 months from when you put the seeds in the ground. The downside is that, typically, they are less potent, but autoflower seeds are great for people who want to grow cannabis but don’t want to spend a lot of time doing it.

How much do marijuana seeds cost?

Cannabis seeds usually come in a pack of 10 or 12 seeds and start at around $40 a pack and go up from there. Some high-end genetics can run between $200 to $500 a pack.

Feminized and autoflower seeds will cost more because more breeding work was put in to creating them and they take less time for the grower to get buds.

How many seeds should I buy? Are they all going to survive?

When you grow any amount of seeds, a percentage of them won’t germinate, even if you get them from a reputable breeder. Always count on a few not germinating or dying off, or roughly 1/4 of the total you put in the ground.

When growing regular seeds, some won’t germinate and some will have to be discarded because they’ll turn out to be males. With feminized seeds, some won’t germinate, but a higher percentage of them will turn into flowering plants because there won’t be any males.

If you want six total cannabis plants to harvest for buds and are growing from regular seeds, start with about 4 times as many, or 24 seeds. Some won’t germinate and some will turn out to be males, and then you’ll want to discard down to the six best phenotypes. If growing feminized seeds, you can probably start with about twice as many seeds in this case (about 12); a couple won’t germinate, and then discard down to the six best phenotypes.

Make sure to always stay within your state’s legal limit of growing plants.

5 common mistakes when germinating cannabis seeds

Although the germination of cannabis seeds is a relatively quick and easy process, it is crucial to take into account a series of important factors in order to obtain as high a germination rate as possible. In addition, it’s in our interest that the seeds germinate as quickly as possible, and especially if we want to avoid problems like fungal infection or a low germination rate.

In our article on how to germinate cannabis seeds we explain step by step what you must do to achieve successful germination. Today we will take a look at the main mistakes made during this process, some simple errors that, as we will see, can easily be solved. Let’s see where many growers fail to germinate their seeds, it’s a great way to learn what not to do if we want to make the most of our seeds.

A germinating cannabis seed

Letting the germination medium dry out

By placing the seed in a moist culture medium, it begins a series of reactions that will lead to germination in a few hours or days. Whichever substrate we choose for germination, we must ensure that it never completely dries out, because as the seed stops absorbing moisture, it’s likely that the seed will cease its activity and never germinate. Cialis for Erectile Dysfunction http://valleyofthesunpharmacy.com/cialis/

For this reason, it is advisable to check every day to make sure the germination medium remains moist, especially if a heat source is used to achieve a higher temperature and therefore a better germination rate; the heat will cause the substrate to dry more quickly, something that must be kept in mind to avoid nasty surprises. In case of hydroponic cultivation it is always better to germinate in rock wool cubes, which of course must always remain moist.

The paper towel should never dry out once germination begins

Leaving seeds to germinate for too long

Another common mistake, in this case when germinating in kitchen paper or similar, is to let the seed germinate until the cotyledons appear. If we do this, then the subsequent transplant is very difficult, and it is very likely that we’ll damage the root in the attempt. Additionally, the longer the root is exposed to air and light, the more damage will result, so it is preferable to transplant it before this occurs.

To avoid problems, it is best to plant the seeds when the tap-root measures approximately 1cm, or 2cm at the most. This will make it much easier to transplant and we won’t harm the development of the roots, which can be expand into the new growing medium without setbacks. Direct germination in soil

This is a common mistake that usually results in non-germination, especially if the substrate hasn’t been previously watered before sowing the seed but is watered afterwards. By planting the seed directly in the substrate, we run the risk of it being buried too deep, made worse when we irrigate the growing medium post-sowing.

To obtain much better results, first germinate seeds in kitchen paper, jiffy pellets or peat plugs used for rooting cuttings and then transplant them to the soil or to a pot once the small seedlings have been born. Another benefit of this method is that we can germinate a large number of seeds in a very small space, such as a small greenhouse, which will make it much easier to provide the correct temperature and humidity.

Temperature and humidity for germination

Cannabis seeds germinate correctly with relatively high temperature and humidity values. It will be necessary, especially during some seasons of the year, to use some source of heat to get a temperature of about 26-28ºC. For this purpose there are many options on the market, such as thermal cables or heated greenhouses. The latter are particularly interesting because they also provide the perfect high humidity environment for seed germination.

The ideal is to maintain the germination medium at about 26-28ºC and at 70% relative humidity. Lower values will result in a slower and less successful germination, while higher values can bring fungal or rot problems.

A heated greenhouse is perfect for germinating seeds

Planting the seed incorrectly

If you look closely at a cannabis seed, you will notice that it has a slightly oval shape, ending in a point at one end and forming a small “crater” at the other end, which is called the crown. When planting your seed (whether it’s a seed that you want to germinate, for example, in a jiffy, or a seed already germinated on kitchen paper that you want to transplant) you must keep in mind that this crown should always be facing upwards.

So, you should plant the seed with the tip down and the crown uppermost and facing you. Once the seed germinates the crown will serve as a hinge, so that the seed will open at the tip and let out the root. In case of placing the seed incorrectly, the tap root will grow upward and the seedling downwards, which should be avoided at all costs because it is likely that the seedling will not be born.

Planting at the incorrect depth

Too often the seed is buried too deep (a problem that we have already seen in case of watering after planting the seed), so the seedling may never emerge. In the other case, if we sow too close to the surface, we can find that the seed germinates well but the stem grows weak, bending and not allowing the seedling to develop correctly.

To avoid these problems it is be best to sow the seed at about 2cm depth. In addition, we can cover the lower stem as the seedling grows, so that it gains stability and produces new roots along the length of stem we have buried. In this way we can accelerate the growth of the plants.

We should plant the seed with the root downwards

Planting several seeds in the same pot

Although it may be tempting, germinating several seeds in the same container is not usually successful. In addition to the difficulty of correctly planting several seeds in the same pot, once they are born they will compete for the little space available for their roots. Having restricted root growth does not suit cannabis plants, which will grow more weakly and with greater internodal distance.

In addition, the scarce space between the plants will also mean they will compete for available light, something not recommended if we want to get the most out of each plant. The plants will produce very little lateral branching, and will center their growth on a weak main stem, with too long an internodal distance, factors that usually affects negatively on the final yield of buds.

We hope that this article will help you avoid problems when germinating your seeds, it can be very frustrating to start a grow with all the enthusiasm and excitement, only to run into problems straight away! Do not hesitate to leave us any doubts, comments or your own tips and tricks, we’ll be happy to answer you.

I quit reading long back when the initial 100 seed results were reasoned. I’ll likely be missing many points observed. Simple opinion, for better than 25 million years of natural survival this plant has recreated itself for man to adapt to its uses in a very short 10,000 or how ever many years there’s been somebody crapping In a watermelon patch Surely it knows its way around a 2cm [email protected]&?ing hole surrounded by its predecessors environment. I would think genetically it knows what the !(@& to do. Especially if you are using a “Feminized seed”. Now, surely many observations have been made justifiable or not the laws of average are easily debatable, but I believe that the laws of average have established the standards many moons ago friends. Maybe I’ll fill up a kiddie pool 4ft Dia. @6 inches deep perlite and drop a 100 seeds through a pine bow from 6 feet high and then document the seeds position when it’s at rest in the perlite.. . I’m Extremely new to cuktuvating cannabis, my 2nd year. My first year turned out peesonally satisfiable at best simply because I planted shark cookies. I germinated in a paper towel, from there I rested the seed however it rested in a tub of perlite with an aquarium bubbler, also a circulator moving a solution of compost tea through the roots for 2 weeks, then put them in a small crawl area with a fan and a few lights for another 45 days, and then moved them to a bucket and put outside for the next 3 months and then brought back inside for another 2 weeks. So any opinions that we all have are open for discussion, but the only resolution for judgement is our own environmental abilities to nurture the development of variable genetics. Happy gardening friends..

Hi and thanks for your comment. We’re happy that your first year of cultivation was a reasonable success, we hope that this year will be even more so! Germinating seeds may seem like the most natural and easy thing in the world, and that’s how it should be, but it’s amazing just how many people fall at this first hurdle, and when the seeds are not particularly cheap, as in the case of cannabis, it becomes even more nerve-wracking, especially for beginner growers and those who have no basic experience of growing other plants like vegetables, flowers, etc. There’s no real substitute for experience in this game, and the more seeds we pop, the more confidence we get. Thanks again for your comment, best wishes to you!

Hello Good day I have some that looks like stale might be more than years old seeds. It was a given to me by a friend and I doubt it was preserved properly in proper containers. Will it still germinate?

Tim 2021-11-24
Hi, thanks for your comment and question. The older the seeds are, the less chance they will germinate, and if they weren’t stored in good conditions (dry, cool, stable, e.g. in the fridge) then the chances of non-germination become even greater. You can try a few things to help improve germination rates, for example, the application of fulvic acid and/or gibberellic acid will give older seeds a better chance of germinating. Try germinating a few of the seeds in the normal way and then if you don’t get success I’d look at using one or both of the compounds I mentioned. I hope that helps, all the best!

I have germinated five seeds of different stains, all paper towel method. All sprouted.. All healthy.. All put in good seedling raising mix but the problem is they just sit dormant just not growing. I grow under lights. Last year.. No problems this year no growth. Seeds r less than a year old. HELP.

Tim 2021-09-08
Hi and thanks for your comment. To work out the problem, we need to eliminate a few possibilities. First, check that the temperature and humidity levels within your grow area are suitable for vegetative growth: ideally from 20 to 28ºC with 40-60% RH. Then verify whether your lamps need changing – old bulbs put out significantly less light than new ones, which could be leading to poor growth. If all those factors are as they should be then the most likely culprit is the soil mix itself – the quality can vary from season to season, even with the best brands, so it’s always possible that there could be pests or pathogens in the soil which are preventing the seedlings from making progress. I would recommend trying with a different brand of soil to see if that makes a difference. I hope that helps. Best wishes and good luck!

Fishnass 2021-08-30
I germinated in paper towel until tap root was as long as seed it curled around the seed anyway my question is if I planted in jiffy pod should I put it under light or wait till it pops up to put it in the light .

Tim 2021-09-01
Hi and thanks for your comment & question. The newly germinated seed doesn’t really need a light source while it’s below the soil surface but as soon as it pops out it will need light to prevent it from becoming stretchy, lanky and unhealthy. For this reason, it’s probably best to keep it under a light with a photoperiod of 18 hours light and 6 hours darkness for the day or two that it takes to break the surface. I hope that helps, best wishes!

Master 2021-08-13
You’re incorrect, seeds should be planted pointy end up crown down.

Tim 2021-08-16
Hi Master, thanks for your comment. I honestly don’t believe there’s a correct or incorrect way. In our time, we’ve tried germinating seeds point down, point up and also laying them on their side in the soil, and we’ve come to the conclusion that it makes no difference at all – we certainly didn’t see any real difference in the results of one method compared to another. In nature, cannabis seed dispersal doesn’t rely on the seed landing in the soil in any particular position and it’s managed to spread pretty well! That said, if you like to sow your seeds pointy end down, then that’s great, keep doing it your way if it works for you! Best wishes!

Sean 2021-05-17
I had my seeds in the paper towel for 3 days. The tap-roots appeared(not out just showing a bit) and I planted them in the soil. 3 days have past and I haven’t seen any progress. Is there a reason why this is happening?

Tim 2021-05-17
Hi Sean, thanks for your comment. As long as the soil is neither too wet nor too dry, there shouldn’t be a problem with the seeds. They can take a few days to pop their heads up above the surface once they’re planted, the root needs to work its way downwards and find a solid hold to be able to push the seed head out of the soil. Speaking from personal experience, don’t be tempted to dig around looking for them as you’ll probably do more damage than good. The only times that seeds didn’t come up for me were the times I overwatered them, it’s crucial that they get enough air at this moment and too much water can lead to them rotting quickly. Of course, if they totally dry out then they’re not going to survive either. At this stage, I’d just recommend patience, good luck! Best wishes!

This article has a lot of nonsense in it. From Mandala Seeds: A #1 seed killer is a closed humidity dome/mini-greenhouse. Humidity domes are only required for rooting cuttings. Many growers make the mistake of thinking that they need a high ambient humidity for germination or seedlings. This is an unfortunate myth of cannabis cultivation. The high humidity and lack of fresh ventilation quickly causes fungus in the soil or growing medium and the seeds can rot! Cannabis is not an orchid or swamp plant! The seeds need a well aerated growing medium to germinate well. Seedlings also cannot tolerate high humidity and can easily be attacked by fungus such as fusarium and pythium. Only the soil or growing medium should be moist for optimal germination and seedling growth. Ambient humidity is best at or below 50%. Btw, seed should be planted with the pointed end UP, not down. Tap root ALWAYS goes up no matter how you place the seed. It’s by the nature, goes against the gravity to create a support for itself so it can push the seed out. It you put it with the pointed end down it will have to make double turn loosing the precious energy stored in the seed.

Tim 2021-05-13
Hi, thanks for your contribution. Mandala Seeds give some helpful advice but they don’t have a monopoly on germination methods! In my 20 years germinating seeds I’ve tried all different methods and I’ve found good and bad in all of them. except for the methods using moist paper towels, I refuse to use it these days – I found that’s a great way to get mold problems and a really bad start to the plant’s life! That definitely is far too much humidity. as for ambient humidity, we don’t specify anything in this post. What we do say is that the medium in which the seeds are germinating should be at about 70% humidity for the best results. There’s nothing wrong with using a humidity dome or mini greenhouse, as long as you know when to start ventilating. of course if it’s kept sealed all the time then problems are bound to arise! These days I start all mine in a glass of water with a few drops of H202 and then once the seeds open (usually 24 hours) they get transferred to the substrate. As for the point down/point up debate, I think I’ll need to do a side-by-side comparison to settle this in my own mind. I’ve always planted them point downwards or on their side and I’ve yet to see any weird stuff like roots popping out of the surface, or doing a loop-the-loop before the seedling breaks the surface. But it’s clear that the debate needs to be settled so I’ll do an experiment and I’ll be happy to be proved wrong! EDIT: I’ve since germinated over 100 seeds as a test, 1/3 of them went in the soil with the point downwards, 1/3 sideways, and 1/3 with the point upwards. Most of the seedlings broke the surface at around the same time but it’s clear to see that the ones that I’m still waiting for are mostly those that went in with the point upwards. The next step has to be a test in a terrarium so I can actually see what’s going on but I’m almost ready to call complete BS on this “point upwards” theory, FWIW. Thanks again for your comment, all the best!

Pls how can i get seeds to Nigeria

Putting seeds in soil , root up , root down.

Ok, so I have had success putting them root down.. its what I have always done. Im no expert but ive grown a couple times with shitty grow rooms, and they have always come outta the ground. But, I was reading a post the other day that said to put it root UP, because the root curls , and it will only have to curl once to make its way down. So instead of having the root down , where it wastes energy curling twice, once towards to “top” of the seed casing, and then down again to the bottom of the pot. u put it root up so it only curls once, downward.

Im starting to think its true, because after looking closely at a germinating seed, it down infact look like its curling towards the “top” of the seed casing.

I soak my seeds in water and just throw them any way they land on the soil and cover them. It is good to put the root down.

thats what everyone says. And also what I believed. But after reading about it , and actually looking at a seed when the root is first coming out. It does look like the seed should be placed root up , as the root looks like its curling down like the post I looked at said.

Dunno , i never put em in exactly perfect anyway. Anything will work really.

I see what ya mean about the root curling. I just looked at my sprouts before coming to where i have internet service. When i go home im going to check that out. Mine always grow as well. Interesting thought.

I used to put them root down. Then read somewhere to put them root up and have been doing it that way since. I think it works better. Makes more sense to me anyway.

A CUT and PASTE for you all I have read ssen and heard of both up and down

Marijuana seeds should be placed with the POINTED END UP into a prepared cannabis seeds germination bed or just good soil at a depth of 1/2 to 3/4 inch. The embryo tap root emerges from the pointed (stylar) end and the natural method of growth is for this root to make a turn and grow downward (see the illustration) This bend formed by the downward curve of the taproot is what emerges from the soil and the friction of dragging the cannabis seeds upward helps the new plant to loosen and cast off the seed case when it breaks through the surface. If the cannabis seeds are placed with the pointed end down, the embryo will be required to expend a great deal of its stored energy for twisting and turning to position the tap root when it realizes that it is heading the wrong way (see illustration of germinating marijuana seeds) The seedling will need this energy to exert the forces required to later lift its head (now enclosed by the two halves of the seed case) above the soil, cast off the seed case and then spread its two embryo leaves and begin the life-giving photosynthetic process. This is a critical stage in growth and carelessness in placing the marijuana seeds will exhaust even the most hearty seedling and result in a slow start and a feeble plant in later life. Cannabis seeds should be placed in a small hole at a depth of 1/2 to 3/4 inch. An excellent medium for germination is a mixture of rich humus and fine sand, such as the type used for aquariums. The soil needs a ph of 7.5 to 8.0 and should not be so moist that it sticks to your fingers. If the medium is too moist, the seeds will rot and ferment before they can sprout. A simple test for moisture is to stick a pencil into the soil and if soil adheres to it when removed, then it is too moist. Sort of like when you test a cake by sticking a straw into it to see if it is baked through to the middle. The ideal is not too moist, and not too dry – and be sure that the soil is well-drained. Research has shown that a soil temperature that is at, or slightly above, the air temperature promotes the best survival rates and growth.

My question is in the wild when plants drop their seeds do the drop them point up or point down think about it
im not sure it really matters it has to work harder one way then the other but it would only seperate men for boys or should i say girls from woman

I’m new to growing and i purchased some seeds from a website. My plants are about 2 weeks now and they are about 8 inches tall with the four leaves. I think they are on pace, what sort of things should i do to improve growing at this point? I have them under a hp gro light 24 hours a day. Also what new stages should I be looking for to know their healthy?

How to germinate cannabis seeds

So, you’ve decided to grow your own cannabis plants. You purchased a pack of seeds, assembled cultivation materials, cleared a space in your garden, and are ready to grow your first cannabis crop . With everything in hand, it’s time to begin the very first step of cannabis cultivation : germinating seeds.

What is germination?

Germination is the first stage of the cannabis growth cycle : the process that brings a cannabis seed out of its hibernation period and starts the cannabis growth process. After all, seeds in a bag don’t spontaneously start developing roots. Also known as “popping” seeds, seed germination begins when a seed receives environmental cues letting it know the setting is perfect to start growth.

When a seed enters an environment with enough moisture, it will increase in size and slowly break out of its shell. A seedling or germ forms from which roots will emerge, helping the baby plant absorb nutrients from the soil. Seeds naturally develop roots facing down and stems stretching upward, allowing the young cannabis plant to simultaneously feed off light and earth.

It’s essential to acquire high-quality cannabis seeds for germination, as these will go on to become high-quality cannabis plants. Seeds that are fresh-feeling or too green indicate that they haven’t reached full maturity, while pale-green, white, or very dark cannabis seeds may have trouble sprouting. However, it’s tricky to know the outcome of a popped seed, so trying may be worthwhile. If you’re not ready to pop your seeds yet, store them in a dark, cool place until it’s time for germination.

Preparing to germinate cannabis seeds

Germination itself is a crucial aspect of cannabis cultivation. The seed germination process is the foundation of every marijuana plant, and steps can be taken to boost successful popping. For example, some cultivators improve germination attempts by soaking seeds in 1% hydrogen peroxide or a compost tea for 12 hours beforehand to kill any dangerous pests.

The environment in which seeds germinate also plays a role in the outcome. While there are several different germination methods, each requires proper moisture, minimal handling, and warm springtime temperatures between 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit.

How to germinate cannabis seeds

The best germination method depends on the cultivator’s choice. Here are some of the most common ways to pop your cannabis seeds.

How to germinate seeds in soil

Soil is an easy, more natural method with which to germinate your cannabis seeds. The soil protects the fragile roots from any interference, and soil is, after all, where a cannabis plant would grow in the wild.

First, make sure you use the correct type of soil, either gently fertilized potting soil or a seed starter with a pH level of approximately six (6). The soil contains the right acidity and enough nutrients to strengthen your young cannabis plants for the first two weeks. Be careful not to add more nutrients, or you risk overfeeding and killing your seeds.

Place the soil in a small pot and use your finger or a pencil to push a small hole in the dirt, a bit more than half an inch deep. Insert the seed into the hole and bury it with soil. From this point on, don’t touch your seed. The young plant is fragile and knows how to position itself in the soil bed.

Gently water the soil with a spray bottle and situate your pots under a fluorescent lamp. Keep seeds away from the windowsill, as the temperature is too volatile for germination. In general, you’ll want to keep the temperature in the range of 70 to 80 degrees Fahrenheit.

Monitor your soil every day and keep it moist. Within four to seven days, you should see tiny stems sprouting from the soil.

When the seedling stems reach two to four inches in height, it’s time to transplant your cannabis into larger pots with more room for roots to spread down and out. After you’ve done this, you’ve successfully germinated your cannabis seeds into proper, young plants.

How to germinate seeds in water

You can also germinate your seeds by placing them in water. It’s slightly faster than the soil method, but you need to adjust your environmental factors accordingly. Remember, successfully germinating seeds requires a perfect balance of ideal growing conditions. When germinating in water, seeds need only 24-48 hours to pop their stems, though cultivators can keep them soaking for up to a week as needed. Water germination is faster because the seed gets all the moisture it needs immediately, and the shell softens and cracks more easily after soaking.

To employ water germination, fill a glass with tap water and let it sit until it reaches room temperature or around 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Add two to three plant seeds per cup and allow them to sit, watching for any changes. Change the water to fresh tap water every two days, making sure it stays at room temperature.

The seeds should start sprouting in about two days, though older seeds can take up to a week to sprout. You can remove them from the water and place them in the soil at any point once they’ve sprouted. Once the roots are about five millimeters long, they need to be planted.

The downside of water germination is that once they’ve popped, you’ll need to maneuver them into their growing medium manually. This is a delicate process, as germinating seeds are extra fragile, and any harm risks the development of your plants. Make sure to place the seed roots down in the soil when you transfer to a pot.

How to germinate seeds using paper towels

The paper towel method is also a common way cultivators pop their seeds. Some even use this method with cotton pads instead of paper towels, but the necessary steps are the same.

To germinate seeds this way, lay one paper towel on top of a countertop, place a few seeds, and cover them with a second paper towel.

Use a spray bottle to moisten the paper towels and then store the cushioned seeds between two plates, under a face-down bowl, or gently place them in a plastic bag. Maintain a temperature of about 72 degrees Fahrenheit, keeping the paper towel wrapped seeds in the dark and away from a windowsill. In two to five days, the seeds will pop inside the paper towel sandwich and emit tiny roots, ready to plant when they reach about five millimeters in length.

The paper towel method also has its risk, as the fragile seedlings can be damaged during the potting process. The tiny roots can also get tangled in the paper towels, so make sure to move the seeds to potting soil before roots grow too long. Use your hands or tweezers to gently remove each seed from the paper towels and place them in a prepared growing medium.

How do you germinate seeds indoors?

Whether you’re planning an indoor cultivation or outdoor grow, it’s best to germinate your seeds indoors. It’s easier to maintain proper temperature, light exposure, and moisture inside, and you can protect your seeds from the elements. Indoor germination, whether using soil or paper towels, will ensure your cannabis seeds have the best chance for survival.

To germinate seeds indoors, use any of the methods described above. Within a few days, you’ll have popped seeds ready to transfer to a growing medium.

Do you need to germinate seeds before planting?

While many plants can be germinated in the ground, cannabis seeds are fragile enough that you should germinate them before planting.

Once your seeds have sprouted roots, they should be planted in soil, a soil-less medium, or in your hydroponic setup. Make sure not touch the root, caring for and navigating the seedling so that the roots face downward. Plant the seed about one inch deep in your growing medium, cover lightly, and allow for about a week for the seed to emerge from the soil. If the seed hasn’t poked through by day ten, it likely didn’t survive.
